Scola was claimed on amnesty waivers, which made him ineligible to be traded for a year, a period that ends this off-season.

With Channing Frye returning from heart problems that had him sit out last season, the Suns don't need Scola, especially if they feel like going into the season with tanking on their mind.  They may have even claimed him with the intention of trading him.

As a veteran big who can rebound with both a post offense and a midrange jumper and who has experience playing occasionally as a smallball center in Houston, I think he is a good fit for the Celtics and a team coached by Doc Rivers.

I'm not sure if Phoenix is willing to give Scola up since he is relatively cheap and I am not sure the Celtics can offer more than other teams if he is available.  Ainge wouldn't (and shouldn't) cough up the Celtics' 2013 first round pick for Scola, but a team picking in the late 20s probably wouldn't have the same qualms about giving up the sort of assets that a cheapskate team like the Suns would prefer.

2 is better than 1.

I would love Scola in Green depending on price tag

Too small to play efficient post defense + poor rebounder = not addressing the two main issues we need to address when adding a big.

Yeah Scola isn't really a better option than Bass anymore, no point in trading anything of value for him.

Put it this way....I like him and good fit, BUTTT...no way I trade SULLY or Green or AB .....got to keep Sully and see way he turns into healthy player .  He is cheap right now and can produce quality minutes beside KG

But Lee , Bass , Wilcox and Jet, Crawford, FAB I could part with and never shed a tear.

Scola has declined quite a bit over the last past two seasons.

A good backup PF but nothing more.

Scola's adequate on defense and a decent rebounder whose rebounding rate was compable this past season to Pau Gasol and Lamarcus Aldridge.

So, you'd be up for sending out a pupu platter of Melo, Crawford, and a 2014 second round pick, but not something involving a first round pick?

call me crazy (and it depends on the pricetag) but I'd rather have Varejao

I would give up a 2nd round pick for Scola. I think that would be as much as I would be willing to pay for Scola. One 2nd round pick. Nothing else of value.

I don't think I'd be willing to give up Fab Melo. Throw away the other China guys -- who I want rid of anyway -- to make up the salary difference.
