I agree with DA....... we need another impact big maybe star,  if this team is going to content for more than a first round exit.

we got to unload all the dead weight again.......way to many shooting guards......that can't shoot  LoL

on a good note , I expect Jeff Green to really be fully healthy and come of age  and play his best N B A  ball yet

also looking forward to seeing Rondo and Sully healthy.and motivated .

Man if we could get big Al that would solve so much. Gives us low post scorer. A scorer in general, Rebounder, and decent defender. Then could use MLE on someone like Mayo. We would have a nice future. With a core of

Rondo
Mayo
Green
Sully
Big Al

go with a lineup this season of

Rondo
Mayo
Green
KG
Big al

With Pierce off the bench man that would be to good.

If it wasn't Danny Ainge saying it Id think it was a poster being obnoxiously optimistic.

What about The Captain?

I'm going to choose to read between the lines, and say that Ainge must be planning on keeping Pierce too.  Why would he say he expects KG back, when he knows full-well that if Pierce is gone, so too is KG?

Hope so.

In retrospect, what happened back in Feb 2011 was better for both OKC and us, but it was still shocking and sad, to say the least.

After that, I don't take anything for granted team-wise...I'm enjoying Pierce, KG, Rondo, Green, etc - every single game.

We might be fortunate Barbosa blew out his knee. Probably would've gotten better than a min offer from someone. And give T Williams a chance. Dude can ball.

Bring Pierce, Jeff, KG, and Rondo back. Anyone else is subject to be involved in a massive trade. I hope Danny will get someone to bite on any combo of these guys.

Bass,Terry,Lee,Crawford,AB,and Twill. Try to package a few of them together and get something. I just don't know what that A. Gets us and B. If it could give us something to put us over the top.
It will probably get us people of the same quality as those guys, but I suppose the grass is always greener on the other side. The downside is that the people we get will not know our system or their new teammates.

There are plenty of trades to look at in the history of the league to get an idea of potential value.

AB is probably the only one with significant value. The other guys are just filler. Twill isn't even that. He is just a contract at this point. You only trade for a guy like that to make salaries match because there is no shortage of guys with no contract who can be picked up without giving up assets.

Does that sound like there is a decent chance Barbosa will return to the Celtics for the minimum when healthy?
I loved Barbosa he'd be nice for the min but still you wonder if he'll ever be back to his old form since his style of play relies on speed and that first quick step

Before really thinking about, my initial thought of getting Al Jefferson this offseason: LOL.

However, after pondificating a little bit, I think it might be feasible. Even though Utah is almost assuredly gonna lose the dude this offseason - you don't give up nothing to get a significant something (unless you're the Lakers.)

Something like Crawford, Fab, Lee, Bass + first this year. Combined salaries going out:  About 13.

Al Jefferson could be signed and traded here over the cap I'm pretty sure, so Boston could pay to his market of probably 14-15 mil a year. However, Big Al could sign a cap friendlier deal at around 10-11 million per year, or backload the last couple years of the contract to leave some leeway in the KG years of the contract allowing us to fill out the roster and still get his money.

The obvious hope for this trade is not to give up too many assets that help you win next year. Utah could screw up this whole thing by wanting Bradley, but since they are probably going to lose Al Jefferson anyway, they would hopefully take my proposed deal. Lee and Bass can be used as expirings later on if they dont project into anything. Crawford could still turn into a good, consistent scoring wing. Fab Melo as a project big off the bench, and our first.

Next years roster with AB still on the team:

PG: Rondo - TWill - Barbosa
SG: Bradley - Terry - Barbosa
SF: Green - Pierce
PF: Garnett - Sully - Green
C: Jefferson - FA - Garnett

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I would be stoked if we KG and Pierce and Doc comes back for  one more year.

With that said, as everyone already mentioned it, the supporting cast needs to be re-shuffled as it seems to be not working.

Package whatever we have, even Sully and AB to land an impact player or move uo the draft as there are gems within the top 10 if this "weak" draft that I personally think could make an impact, on any team.

Sign a Center and for the love of God PLAY HIM. I wouldn't mind Chris Kaman for the MLE.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace
