If KG Doesn't Retire: He Remains A Celtic.
KG isn't getting traded. Period.
I think it's funny when people post things like this as if it's the definitive word on the matter or that it's going to end the discussion.
Explain to me why you think KG would stay with the Celtics only to play for another team. Does that make any sense?
"I'm staying with the Celtics. Bleed green!"
*gets traded to Clippers*
Yeah, that doesn't make any sense to me.
KG: "I don't want to retire yet, I feel like I can still play and help a team win."
Celtics: "We just traded Paul Pierce. We're rebuilding."
KG: "Welp, I still want to play. What good teams can you trade me to?"
Worst case scenario, they trade Pierce and then KG says, well, I'm retiring.
But either way the team moves forward without KG or Pierce and has gained a lot of future cap flexibility while ensuring a much better draft pick next year, and opening the way for the younger guys to increase their trade value by playing more minutes and playing bigger roles in the offense.
If KG wants to play one more year, he'll say he wants to be the Celtic (he's under a contract here, and he won't be the first to say 'it's time to rebuild')
Pierce has already stated he wants to play one more year. Who doesn't want 15 million dollars? If KG plays for Boston, Pierce will likely choose to play for Boston too.
Doc will remain coach. Something will happen with the other 12 guys on our roster who are already signed for next year.
We will have another go-around.
If KG says, "I don't want to retire yet, I feel like I can still play and help a team win," then it will be with the Celtics. I'm pretty sure about that.
But hey, I could be wrong.
