Per Nerf DPOY in the other thread:

What if we signed Brandon Jennings to some contract (or more reasonably, traded for him somehow?)? By taking a look at his stats, he's averaging a Green-esque 17 points per game over his past (and only) four years. He shoots the three ball and the free throw well, he had a great 6.5   assists per game, the only problem is he shoots too many two-pointers that just don't go in. It's encouraging to hear him say "Everybody says I’m just a shooter, I’m just a scorer, but if you go back to my high school days, I’ve always been a pass-first point guard."

It would be interesting to sign him somehow, although I do realize he's demanding a fairly hefty contract. With how the Knicks are playing, I wonder how two point guards could work on this team.

Rondo
Jennings
Bradley
Crawford

Lee
Pierce
Green

Bass
Garnett

There's a good chance this thread makes no sense.  :-X

I think it's a good idea!! :)

I think a big question is if Jenning's would accept being a combo guard off the bench in a contract year, and if Doc could get him to play a little more under control. If he did, that'd be ideal. As it is, I think Jennings is in for a reality check the summer of '14 when he sees no 8 figure deals offered, and we'd hopefully be able to bring him back on a reasonable salary.

1) He's a restricted free agent, so Milwaukee can match whatever offer is sent his way.

2) He's kind of a waste on a roster with Terry, Crawford, Bradley, Rondo, and Williams all fighting for guard rotation minutes.

I'm a Jennings fan. I don't think he was ready for the Iverson-Lite role that Milwaukee asked of him in their Fear The Deer playoff run, and I don't think putting him on a roster with Monta Ellis does him any favors (because they're essentially the same player, but Monta is much more of a professional/tested product). Unfortunately, it appears that his 55 point game will be a spectre over the rest of his career.

Now, if we didn't have Terry or Crawford, I could totally buy into him as our microwave scorer.

You don't sign Jennings when you have Rondo on the team.  I'm not a big Jennings fan, but he is a starter and he is going to want to be the main point guard on a team.  He's not a back up or a combo guard.

I think he would magically lose the will and ability to score when he comes here. He would average 9 ppg on 5 shots shooting a higher percentage than his career averages.

I like Jennings. I do think his game is erratic at times but I think he's a better PG than Rondo.

Pass on Jennings even if we didn't have Rondo.

Could see Dallas going after him if things with CP3 don't work out. Seems like a player Cuban would want. He could be a dangerous player in the right setting.
