I think I would probably stop Hitler's rise to power, which would have significantly altered history in the last 75 years.  Not sure if the world would ultimately end up better, but I think stopping Hitler's rise to power certainly alters when (or if) WWII happens, the cold war doesn't happen when it does (or at all), heck even Japan probably doesn't attack the US at Pearl Harbor without the war in Europe, etc.

What say you other celticsbloggers?

I thought about this recently because I was organizing my closet and came across Orson Scott Card's book Past*watch, the Redemption of Christopher Columbus, where future people go back in time and alter Columbus' landing (they keep him in the new world and start a colony and enter the idea of Jesus into the natives so when the next set of explorers come they are met with a different type of native).

That book sounds great, do you recommend it?

As for my thing I would change, I'm going to need more than one.

My own life.

Wish I had dealt with FILL IN THE BLANK GIRL in a different manner.

Greater scheme of things?

Probably prevent 9/11.  Think the 2000s would've unfolded much differently through present day.

I would have trademarked "Celticsblog" and make Jeff my slave.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

It is a great book.  I may have had the title wrong, but it is something like that.  It is a very interesting read and view on history.

I would've also loved to go back and see what would've happened had John Lennon not been killed.

Give all the C's and future-C's some heads up about all their injuries. Make sure we win a bunch more.

(And place some bets while I'm at it)

Wow. Too heavy of a topic!

Lots of things from insignificant and selfish (but not world altering) to significant and world changing. The problem with the latter, is what else changes?

If I stop MLK's assasination, or Hitler's rise to power, or Adam and Eve's eating of the apple, what else changes? And how do I know it will change things for the better?

Versus, if I change the numbers of a certain lottery ticket that I buy, I win and become rich, but the world doesn't really change much...
Celtics fan for life.

So that latter one is safer, if you don't want to mess with the space-time-continuum... lol :')

Personal wise I mean: invented Facebook, google, and snuggies.

Started playing the guitar earlier, picked a career direction early on and stick with it to be in a better current position.

History wise: prevented the dark ages. Who knows what type of flying vehicles or what not we'd be in had our advancement in technologies not been cut off at such a influencial time period.

Funny you say that, I was reading about Julius Caesar and Ancient Rome earlier today and was impressed with how advanced their technology was back then. This is going to come off as very insulting to some people, but I thought about how things might have advanced if Jesus never existed...I am not necessarily saying that it is something I would have changed, just responding that I had a similar thought today.

I can hear the sound of this thread being locked right now.

Don't worry man. We are thinking along the same wavelengths. And I grew up catholic.
