Seriously?  I can't wait until Vinny Del Negro (or someone like him) walks through that door.  See what folks have to say then.

They will kill the Celtics for picking him to coach.

What else will they say?

Don't worry. Vinnie Del Negro is not walking through that door.

If Doc goes, it's because the team is in full rebuild. You'll see a fan-friendly face, probably a rookie coach. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised to see Scal prowling the sidelines in a suit.

Doc Rivers could leave the C's, and have his pick of almost any coaching job he wants.

I guess the 'fans' here know better than the actual NBA GM's.

Lately people criticise him because they were frustrated. Celtics fans had  hope for the banner even after the injuries.
You can't blame the criticism for that.
The other type of criticism is a constructive one, and that one is great. I mean when you see possibilities and you see your coach hard headed, you wonder and you want to know why. Answer like "the guy came from the CBA so he bench", that's not a constructive and objective answer.
To me Doc is a very good coach but why aren't we allow to ask him to be great, why not the best?
I think he can be the best in a few years.
Hope he returns with a healthy squad for the 18th. I want more of that...

Doc's management of players is not good. When we were relatively a healthy squad at the start of the season, we were not a very good team either.

Doc has never been more frustrated this season at his own players than he's ever been. You can see it on the court, in timeouts, and at post game pressers.

Doc is a very good coach and played a very big role in Boston winning a title and the other great playoff runs of the last few years.

However, there are PLENTY of coaches who could've won and won a lot with the talent Doc has had since KG arrived.  Win a title?  Maybe not.  Win 50+ games and go deep into the playoffs?  Absolutely.  Doc did exactly not work miracles in Boston by winning with KG, Pierce and Ray.  And if Doc ever leaves Boston and coaches again in a situation where he doesn't have that kind of talent and character to work with, the results will probably be more like the utterly unexceptional won-loss record Doc had before Ray and KG walked through that door.

There aren't a lot of coaches in the NBA that I'd say are better than Doc, but is he really that much better than Rick Adelman?  Look at what McHale did this season with that roster in Houston.  Is Doc really THAT much better than him?  Is Doc really better than Thibs in Chicago?

Doc Rivers is not the Alpha and Omega.  People coached and won in Boston before Doc.  They'll coach and win in Boston after Doc.

There are quite a few outstanding coaches out of the game right now.

Both VanGundys and Sloan come to mind right away.

I don't think Doc would leave during a rebuild, so long as there are enough veterans to actually run plays.  I'm sure Danny will keep signing the Scals and the Gugliotta's, Jason Collins's, and so on.

Then he'll sign the CBA all stars and hope/pray one of them can beat out the vet journeymen.

Doc's management of players is not good.

The question is, 'not good' relative to what?
Jeff Green - Top 5 SF

"I've always said J. Green is going to be one of the best players to ever play this game"

Thibs in Chicago, for one.  He does run his guys into the ground but Thibs also has everyone on that team ready to contribute and play every night.

Doc deserves to be critized this year. First, not using all the players of the roster. Second, not being able to manage the advantage in some important games in particular during 4th quarters. Third, miscomunnication between work done by DA and hist prosectives how to built and drive the team( case Ray before the trades and after Ray left)

The Bulls were 16-16 in games decided by 10 or more points, Celts were 18-23. The Bulls were 20-23 against teams with winning records, the Celts were 20-22. Considering that the bulk of the Celts double digit losses came early in the season before the defense came together it's likely the Bulls had as many or more big losses over the last 50 games as the Celts. Having everyone ready to contribute and play hard doesn't seem to affect their performances.

Agree. For Doc, it wasn't risky at all to try more T-Will and Shav let say 25mn per game while the bucks and sixers were fighting to get the 9th position and avoiding the playoff to tank.
A PG because we didn't have one and we had turnover problems, and a rebounder because KG was lonely.
I'm not saying the outcome would have been different but any coach would have try it. I wonder why Doc didn't try at least for 10 games these 2 players seriously so they can get rhythm and confidence.

You guess :
1) Doc stubborn
2) DA and Doc misunderstanding on players to fill up.
3) Franchise must sell tickets and jerseys, so you put the best players on the court.

Do you see what Thibs is doing with the Bulls?
Do you know that the Warriors are up on the Spurs right now?
Have you seen what Frank Vogel has done with his group?
Do you see what Mike Woodson has done with JR Smith alone???

But Doc is the greatest coach of life.
OK!
