you cant lose your #1 player in rondo and still expect the team to go as far. a guy who has been your MVP of the post-season

its the same with the chicago bulls...without Rose, their ceiling is maybe what? the 2nd round?

yet I dont hear the media begrudging them if they end up losing this series to the nets

not sure what this has to do with anything.

I'd guess it has to do with the earlier posts about how much better we'd have likely done in the playoffs with Rondo leading the team.

I definitely believe this team would have done better in the playoffs with Rondo.  They might have gotten past New York.  I don't think they'd have been good enough to beat Indiana, though.

I just can't agree with people who see the Rondo injury as a justification for giving the entire team a pass for the season.  The struggles this team had, even considering Rondo's absence, demonstrated that they cannot be as competitive as many of us had hoped at the start of this season.

I don't see the Pacers as too much of a problem for the Celts with Rondo. I think they'd struggle to score against us more than we'd struggle to score against them.

Perhaps.  It's all academic at this point.

I am really looking forward to seeing a healthy Rondo playing with
1. A healthy Bradley, after another off season and training camp.
2. A healthy, comfortable and aggressive Jeff Green.
3. A healthy Sullinger without the rookie treatment.
4. A returning Kevin Garnett.
5. A Paul Pierce in a Manu Ginobili role.
6. A Jason Terry who is finally comfortable with the Celtics.
7. A Brandon Bass who finally found his rhythm in the later part of the season.
8. To see if Fab can improve from his freshman year the way he did in Syracuse.

Yes, but (not in this thread) it's fairly meaningful as people will based their opinions on which direction the team should take on the results of the season. Not that the opinions are meaningful, but you get my drift.

I get where you're coming from, and I do think it's worth discussing, I just don't want to get bogged down in a hypothetical discussion centered around something negative -- Rondo's injury and the Celtics' playoff loss and how they are related.

This is one thread where I personally want to try to focus on the positives from this season.  Every other post on this forum, including those made by myself, tend to focus on the disappointments or points of heated contention.

PhoSita,

The fact of the matter is that we had NO true back-up PG on this team.  That means that we did NOT have a QB for 48 games this season.  How would the Pats do with NO Brady???  Rondo IS OUR Brady!!!!  "Might have gotten past NY???"  As the great Johnny McEnroe often said, "You can't be serious!!!:-))"

There is NO "MIGHT" about that.  We would have beaten the THUGS 4-1 or at worst 4-2!!!!!

Again, this has little to nothing to do with the main post.  We can have a discussion about how far the Celtics would have gone with Rondo in some other thread.
