If we could dump the legends and move on today, Could we afford both Big Al Jefferson and Josh Smith. Even if we have to wait for Smith.

How good could this team be in a year or too.

 Big Al
 Josh Smith
 Jeff Green
 Bradley
 Rondo

With A bench of Lee, Melo, Sully, Terry and Bass.

 That's a 50 win team no problem.

That lineup is interesting. But with Josh and Rondo's shooting woes that would be tough. Now if Green wasn't here and it was Rondo and Smith to run more of a pick and roll game that different. I just don't see how the 3 of them would mesh well. But would be one hell of a defensive team.

No, we couldn't. Not unless both were willing to take MLE-sized contracts.

This team would put the Celtics in handcuffs for 4 years plus the rebuild time. That would be a very fast team tho

With zero perimeter shooting and a free lane for the opposition to the rim.

We'd give up 130 a night.

No thanks.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Without commenting on the lineup in general Smith is pretty good at protecting the rim. That team would probably be an average or so defensive team.

Nope, doesn't work that way.

If KG was retiring we could probably do sign and trades for those two with PP and KG (unless the cba forbids it for some reason), not that I'm advocating the idea.

No to Josh Smith unless he comes for Jeff Green money.

No to Big Al unless we can get Dwight Howard/Marc Gasol/Joakim Noah to play D.

No. No.

This offseason the Celtics need to regain flexibility for the 2014 summer, get some assets, develop the young players value and try to make a big trade/draft in 2014.

Tank the season while playing Green/Bradley/Melo/TWill/Crawford/rookie(s). Keep Rondo and Sully off the court until after the ASG. Trade our veteran role players for picks/expirings.

Summer of 2014 you have to extend Rondo, and there will be a lot of decisions to take. Don't tie yourself with albatross contracts.

There are good defensive bigs outside of the top 5 centers in the league. Okafor, Dalembert, and Hickson all come to mind and are all UFAs this offseason.

I'd take Rondo-Bradley-Green-Jefferson-Okafor (+Sullinger) any day.

No to Josh Smith unless he comes for Jeff Green money.

That won't happen, and it shouldn't. Smith is a better player than Green. Better rebounder, better defender, bigger, stronger, and more capable of exploding for 10 straight points.

Smith is a top 20 player in the league. I'd call Green top 50.
