I don't think we should blow it up just for the sake of blowing it up. If we can't get a decent return, why not play out their contracts and use the money when it's available? If we sell off for 50-60 cents on the dollar, we get marginal players with longer contracts than KG and Pierce. I don't see how that really helps long term.

Highly unlikely we make the playoffs next year... I'm strongly in favor of tanking for wiggins
How so? Rondo will be back. Green will be back. This team will not be bad enough to land a #1 draft pick

if we can trade pp,,terry , lee and bass for expiring contracts and picks we can
I don't think we can get much value by trading those guys but who knows.

If, and at this point it's a big if, the core is brought back next year, there are some serious changes Danny/Doc need to make.

The first, and really most important, is getting legit big to play with KG.  If this doesn't happen there is no point.

Secondly, pierce needs to become a sixth man.  He just doesn't have the legs anymore to be a starter and carry such a heavy burden.

With Rondo healthy, Green hopefully able to build off of this season, Bradley actually having his first healthy off-season in which he can work on his game, and the potential Sully has, I think we could have a really good team if those two issues are addressed.

We'll see how it shakes out.  I really have no idea what is going to happen right now.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Let it go and let's move on. Seems some fans won't be happy until it's the basketball equivalent of Ali vs Larry Holmes. Pierce and Garnett still have good basketball left in them, but they don't have championship basketball left(atleast not as top dogs). These guys have put it all on the floor and made us proud, let's leave it be.

  • KG IS THE KING
I give it one more run if we can get one of these players:
Dwight Howard
Josh Smith
Marc Gasol
Serge Ibaka
Lebron James
Chris Paul
What? We won't get them? Okay then...

Care to make a TP wager on KG retiring?  ;)

This

I don't understand those that just want to blow it for no reason. I don't see Ainge getting much for Pierce at this point. If KG wants to go at it one more time let the vets continue to mentor while on the fly.

Maybe Pierce would be ok coming off the bench. How about a legit backup for KG for once?!

The C's might just be able to avoid lottery hell if the younger players aren't just thrown into the fire.

Lottery does not mean #1 pick

as i watched this series i thought.... "how far could this team go with this defense, rebounder, a great pg, and one more scorer?"

my belief is pretty far into the playoffs. with rondo and sully back, this team is pretty darned good. their defense was great throughout the series. it was their poor offense and reliance upon jump shooting that killed them.

rondo and sully will make this a far far better team. they still need a consistent scorer off the bench. but they played better than i had thought they would.

so, sad to have the season end. but i am more upbeat about next season that i would have thought.

another run next season is really possible. and since they save virtually NO MONEY by letting pierce or kg go, why not make one more run with them?

ainge can start the rebuild anytime, i hope he tries to win with this crew once more.

to go for another run, this team needs some serious help. there's only one point guard on the team, and there's only one center. to quote JVG: "Bass is an undersized power forward, and when Garnett goes to the bench, he's a super undersized center."

Green also needs to improve a lot because we need him to make that leap next year. In the open court, he's terrific. But he's also shown a propensity to turn the ball over a lot. We need another scorer to be honest. 49points after 3 quarters? That can't happen.

Is it possible for pierce to get bought out of his current contract. Sign for cheap. and then sign Josh Smith?

Honestly if we could draft a decent back up Center, and Fab Melo can give us 5-10 productive minutes.

Green starts over Pierce, who sits out at least 10-15 minutes. And we could get Josh Smith for cheap who could PF and if Doc wants to go small ball, let him do Center.

I don't see why we can't make a splash. Either way we won't get much, just the ability to get a decent FA.

I say keep KG and Pierce if you can swing a deal to get a big and a guy that can create his own offense. Make Green, Bradley, Sullinger, Crawford, Bass, Lee and our draft pick available. We probably won't be able to get anything for KG and PP that is worth it, so keep them. They are still good players and I believe that they would be better suited as role players.
