Yet Another Reason to Dislike Kobe

Dude has made over 100 million in his career and is set to make 30 million this upcoming season and he is suing his mother over memorabilia?! What a loser. Does it really come to this? Story has it that he offered to give her 250k for the stuff and she asked for 450k. She is clearly no angel either, however to go to court over just not giving your mom and extra 250k?! With all the bad publicity the guy has had over the past few years you'd think that he'd want to keep things quiet and just give her what she asked for. Clearly the stuff wasn't that important to him or else he'd have it with him all these years. It's not like he doesn't have room for it. I don't think my mom would have to ask if I was making that much bank. She definitely wouldn't get sued...

I've seen, heard, and been told about family disputes so many times over estates and other small amounts of money.

She's selling all his stuff that is in her house, which I am guessing he probably bought for her.  I mean imagine if you won a $100 million lottery and every family member you have was expecting a new house and every random acquaintance in your life was trying to scam you.    It's not a pleasant situation but it's not like I can fault him.  He offered her a pretty good amount for it

From what I gather from the lawsuit, Kobe just doesn't want his mother to sell his old stuff.  Seems like a silly reason to dislike Kobe.  This is all on the mom.  I mean seriously, what kind of mother sells her kids high school mementos just so she can get a large second home.  Especially when that kid has given her millions of dollars over the last 17 years.

EDIT:  Also, I believe the suit is against the auction house which is already in possession of the stuff and not against his mother.

Not sure of the whole situation, but this part seem to paint the mom horribly in my eyes:

A source told ESPN that Kobe Bryant offered to pay his mother up $250,000 toward a home she wanted.

She refused, saying she wanted $450,000. When Kobe Bryant turned her down, the source said that unbeknownst to Kobe Bryant she struck a deal to get the $450,000 advanced through the auction company.

Maybe it's just poorly written, and leaving out key details, but that seems like the kind of behavior we'd see on Real Housewives, Basketball Wives, etc. (even though I've never seen either).  Mom, here's a check for $250k for house.  Only $250k!?!?  I can't get by on that, I'd rather be homeless than live in the kind of house I'd get for that.  The mom, refusing to take such an insultingly low handhout, then proceeds to rip up check and spit on it, using a Latrell, "I gotta feed my family" line of reasoning.

Or maybe it didn't go down that way at all, but from what's written in this article, that's the way it looks to me at first. (Although I know there could be several other explanations and more to the story).

I respect Kobe as an all time great basketball player and his knowledge, work ethic and respect for the game is second to none...don't care about his other issues and neither should you.

This is the key point everyone is missing.  Kobe is suing the auction house, not his mom. 

Now you can be upset at kobe for not shelling out an extra 200K (he did offer 250K) for a 2nd home for his mom but he has apparently provided them with millions of dollars of support over the years and they still need to borrow money for a 2nd home?  I'm not sure I blame him for drawing the line somewwere.  Some of these celebrity mom's can be all about the money.
