After the incident:

Video that has since gone viral shows the Celtics guard taunting the Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony as the two players passed each other. Crawford had to be pushed away by teammates Chris Wilcox and D.J. White. Lip readers have already come up with several juicy interpretations of what Crawford said.

But Crawford denied his involvement, saying, “Not me. You’d better go talk to someone who was there.”

As seemingly everyone else in the building would attest, Crawford was indeed there.

...but when Jordan Crawford denies it on twitter, that's gotta be genuine, right?

It may or may not be, but it has more credibility with me than people who "reported" what he said, perhaps sensationalizing things.

I don't think that he said what was reported by some people, given the way his lips moved, but even if he did, the fact that he cares what people think, and by denying it understands that it is wrong and that his image suffers because of it, shows me a level of maturity that he didn't exhibit in Washington.

Either way, I don't think that he should be pilloried on here.

Haha yeah. People dojt like Crawford so they jump on this .

You see at the end of the game melo talking to the Cs bench. No one has any idea what wassaid or who started it.

All you see is the end result and people draw their conclusions.

I love ppeople acting like they know what happened either way. People on here the Herald etc. I mean give me a break haven't we realized especially in the last month or so how bad qnd lazy some news outlets can be with reporting information?

Precisely. Who cares? It's basketball.

Im over this already. Does Crawford being a former Wizard really make what he did immature? Again we have no idea what was said before what happened to spark that situation.

When KG and Melo had their issues on tha court and when it was reported KG made tha Honey Nut Cheerios comment, we loved him for it. it was "Classic KG". What's really tha difference between what him and KG did? And what about it was immature on Crawford's part when we don't know what happened period? Nothing should have happened in tha first place but maybe he was provoked and all he did was 'respond'. Him being a former Wizard doesn't make this impossible. Can we move on now?

I would never talk trash about that mans Wife. I don't know him........ All I did was respond!!
3:43 AM - 3 May 2013

What does that even mean? He only responded? So someone else brought up Melo's wife and Crawford added to it (sounds unlikely), or Melo's wife wasn't discussed? Or he is talking deceptively?

The only one he's deceiving is himself. LOL

Get over it. Trash Talking happens in every level of basketball. Street Ball, Pick up games, Pro Ball, NBA.

I've seen the video multiple times, and I'm not saying I'm a pro at reading lips, but it looked like he didn't even mention his wife.

Trash talking is part of the game.
I'm over it. I'm sure everybody in the Celtics and Knicks are over it. A lot of guys here are over it.

Lets just go get this win tonight.

Not to mention the fact that they were dressing black for the Boston Celtics' funeral when the events of the Boston Marathon already occurred. Disrespectful and classless bunch. I don't see the Miami Heat doing that. They're just egotistical and mighty, that's all. Looks like my distaste for the Knicks went up a whole bunch because of J.R. Smith and Kenyon Martin running their mouths.

We all know Crawford is a knucklehead. Am I defending him? No.

Is this over blown? Yes.

JR Smith goes ahead to foul Terry with a flagrant, gets kicked out the next game, which they proceed to lose. Then says something that dismisses Jason Terry's existence/career. Which I find is ironic, because two months ago, JET would've said the same thing about his career. Not to mention the rumors of him drinking and partying heavily doesn't help him look professional either.

Then Kenyon Martin says something even worse, by being immature, and proclaiming that Wednesday, would be our funeral. Going as far as enough to tell his entire team to wear all black, then publicly stating it. Which I will type, that I'm surprised Mike Woodson let his entire team do it in the first place.

Not only did they go home dressed like Men in black. But Kenyon Martin's response to a reporter was with an angry and dismissive tone, "If you want to talk about basketball, then talk about basketball."

So you made that outrageous, yet offensive statement to us, and now you can't back it up with all that trash you talked? Sure you went 3-0. Guess what? Its now 3-2. And your going to be in our home court, surrounded by fans who will be up roaring every mere second of the game. Even if we lost the game, it'll show off the fact that you couldn't close out a simple sweep.

If what Jordan Crawford said is all true, I have lost a lot of respect for him. But the Knicks trash talked first. And I find it funny that Lala is now responding to Crawford, but didn't say anything to KG. Is she embarrassed, or is it all true?

In the long run Crawford was at the wrong, but what was Fatboy Felton doing getting all mad and flustered? If what Crawford said was true, then none of that pertained to you, and you shouldn't have even run the risk of getting thrown out for fighting. If anything, if Crawford gets ejected next game, then I'm pretty sure Doc/Danny will think hard about this in the off season. I just hope if Jordan gets ejected, so does Felton.
Who cares what the Knicks were doing? Be a professional, mature person and leave the court and let the Knicks act like the petulant children they are.

I'm only posting this, because everyone instantly assumes Crawford is making things up... No one has given him the benefit of the doubt, and oh wow someone wasn't professional!?!? Wow!

Stuff like this happens all the time in the playoffs... And if anything the Celtics aren't exactly the most professional organization, when it comes to trash talking.

I think there is a belief that you are only allowed to trash talk to other players who are equal or below you on some sort of pecking order.  KG can rise to the occasion and have a shot at outplaying anyone, so he can talk to anyone.  Some people feel that Crawford is only justified in trash talking if it is against someone he will outplay next game.  Since he seems likely to rack up a DNP, there's not a lot of people he can talk to.  The difference is that Crawford can't back up his words on the court.

Carmelo responds
Quote
In defense of his wife, Carmelo told reporters at a shootaround at Suffolk University this morning that La La has a right to be “upset’’ that her name was used by Crawford.

“I would be upset too if I was her,” Anthony said. “She’s always getting thrown into the mix of the Boston Celtic series. I would be upset if I was her. She’s her own person at the end of the day.”

I agree with him..If KG said what he said, it was on the court, NOT after a loss for the opposing team. Crawford didn't even play and if he was the antagonist then HE IS WRONG. He could have said anything that didn't involve the man's wife.

If you watch the video it is clear that melo walked towards crawford and white and says something (though you can't see his face) and crawford reacts.  And then melo leaves the scene as soon as stuff gets chippy and lets felton take the fall for him.  The fact that melo was walking in their direction is all the evidence I need, why was he headed towards them?  Just go the locker room.

Melo is such a chump.  Crawford is innocent! :)

See the 30 second mark.  Why is melo there?

I think somewhere on the Knicks board they were saying that it's some renovations at MSG and both teams use the same entrance to get to the lockers or something like that..I don't know.

I think it might be an even more crazy set-up than that.  If I'm not mistaken, the tunnels to each team's respective lockeroom is on the side of the court of the other team's bench.

They literally have to cross paths just to leave the court.

Yeah I think that's what it was, I knew it was something crazy like that...that's a disaster waiting to happen. Especially with the intensity of the game.

Its called being a mature, professional adult. After the win, you want to go talk to the competition and say "good game", how's things, socialize...fine, do it.

But if the opposition is being a bunch of immature, sore losing, babies that can't act their age, joining in and doing exactly what they are doing is foolish, immature and unprofessional and you can guarantee that Danny and Doc chewed Crawford's ass off for acting like that after a game. Especially since he didn't even contribute to the win.

Just because your opposition wants to open their mouths and show people what stupid dolts they are doesn't mean you should open your mouth or act in the same manner and prove you are one too.

This is not college and high school ball anymore. These guys are pros representing an organization. Act accordingly, especially when in the uniform on national television.

BTW, does anyone else get that this is probably in response to the grief he might be getting IN HIS OWN LOCKER ROOM!!! He tweeted this at 4 am. Seems like someone had this on their mind for a while or was hearing it from possibly a team mate or something and decided this was a good idea.

Also, once again, by tweeting this response, you are opening your mouth and proving what a dolt you are, just like you did on the court that day. Just shut up and do your job.

I still say he is responding from grief he is getting in his own locker room. Doc, Danny and ownership, I am sure, was not happy about this.

Trash talking on the court happens. Embarrassing your organization by getting in a scuffle and saying stuff after a game is not trash talking.

The C's were in these guys heads. They just beat them. They didn't cave like the taunting New Yorkers thought they would. keeping quiet and just continuing to be in their heads and beat them is what should have happened. Now Crawford gave the Knicks some life and a reason to be motivated beyond just because it is the playoffs.

It was just a bad move and responding on twitter, just as bad of a move.
