My poit is give them one more year (with a healthy Rondo) for 2 reasons:

1. Let them go out with the best players together.

2. Buy a little time to collect assets and develop young guys.

If the point is to keep Rondo and build around Rondo and Green, then take a group of about 8 assets and try to turn them into a 3rd option and 3 or 4 role players.

(Lee, AB, Stuckey, Hawes, Bass, Melo, Sullinger, Thomas)

turns into:

(Kevin Love, AB, Stuckey, Hawes, Thomas)

Take 3 o4 gys and a couple of draft picks, go get Kevin Love, or Lamarcus Aldridge, or the best big you can get.  (Re: KG trade) Find someone that makes a ton that the small market team cant afford anymore.

Then you have someone like Love, Rondo, Green with a supporting cast of AB, Hawes, Stuckey, plus whoever you draft in '13 and '14.

1. backup PG and C (Ridnour+Stiemsma for Lee + filler)
2. starting SG (Henderson for Bradley/Crawford+ filler)
3. Ryan Anderson (Bass,Melo + filler)
4. Greg Oden?

Keep the rest of the current roster

I'm officially on the 'it is time to move on' wagon. Jsut tradew Peirce and KG together so I have someone to root for while the Celtics stink.

I agree. We just need one decent big to give KG a rest
And then where are we?

A team with a disgruntled big man because Doc plays too much small ball?

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

We got Jared Sullenger and Fab Melo in tow. Drafting somebody like Kelly Olenyk out of Gonzaga might work. Get a rookie free agent like Carl Hall out of Wichita St would make a helluva story if he makes it. I think he is Leon Powe with slightly better athletic ability.

I favor getting the band back together but Doc will have to use and trust his bench more. I am not sure he can do that.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

This.

I give up on the "acquiring a big" since Doc doesn't even play them.

I want them back for ONE FINAL STAND (yep, I said that a lot) but in order for that to happen, we need to move KG back to PF and lessen his interior defense load and get a big man who can block shots and defend the rim, while KG patrols the defense.

But Doc won't play them, so, where do we go? And I'd love Spencer Hawes to play for us.

I am starting to get the feeling that even as when we are approaching the 2067-68 season, fans are going to want the Celts to "keep it together for one more year" ;D

This is a myth.

Doc has always played big men with talent.

Far to often, the Celtics have not had enough of them (or enough of them healthy)

If KG and Pierce are back next year we will probably try to get a 4 or 5 in free agency using the MLE, draft a player at the same position in the first round. Then hope that a post presence can help our poor offense.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

How exactly are we going to "acquire assets" if the roster stays pretty much the same?
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

MLE and a draft pick (which I know aren't many assets, but they are assets)
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Aren't we going to be close enough to the apron level again to prevent using the full MLE?
