Rutzan,

No disrespect intended, but do you really think Carmelo is the second best player in the NBA???????  Ahead of Lebron, Durant, etc.  You realize he is a BELOW AVERAGE defender, right???

He is not even in my top 15 right now.

Smitty77

I'd say Carmelo and Durant are having fairly similar post seasons.

i think you're right...they are very similar...i guess it's just watching Carmelo dominate us for 4 straight games...even with a lousy FG% he is dominating us...everything he has done has set up the rest of the Knicks...

I dont really see how the pressure can be on the Knicks when if we lose our season is over.

I dont really see how the pressure can be on the Knicks when if we lose our season is over.

we're in year 6 of Danny's 3-year window...we are playing with the house's money...Carmelo and the Knicks have to prove they belong...Carmelo has to pull a Lebron from 2012 like a previous poster said...

i think if we get behind early...it will be a very tough battle...we need to weather the early storm...which i think we will...

we need the Capt, KG, Jet and Green to all play well again...it's going to come down to an "X" factor...someone else has to come up big for us...i was hoping AB...maybe Crawford...we'll probably need 5 players all with at least 15 pts each...

i especially think we have to match or better the Knicks from 3-pt land...i think that is where the game will be one or lost...plus...the long rebounds they are getting off missed 3's are killing us...we cannot allow that to continue...

finally...turnovers...

and...I love what a previous poster said...the Knicks are not the Heat...cuz that is what i really want...just a shot against the Heat...

Exactly. No one really thought the Celtics could contend for a title after Rondo went down and the onus was on KG and Pierce to, once again, drag us as far as they could.

'Melo has long been singled out for being the underwhelming 'Superstar' from the 2003 draft, and his reputation is going to remain that way as long as he keeps getting bounced early in the playoffs.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

One thing is for sure: the Knicks DO NOT want to come back to the JUNGLE.

yo are ppl forgetting that the celtics blew a 20-point lead? or that the knicks were without their 2nd best player? the knicks would have to lose the next 2 games for them to feel any pressure. the celtics are 1 game from elimination while the knicks are 3 games away. the celtics have the worst road record out of all 16 teams in the playoffs not the knicks.

if anythin the thread should say "All the pressure is IN NY" and that should only pertain to the celtics cuz the celtics are the only team feelin pressure. if they lose, wouldnt it be the first time in the kg era that the celtics got knocked out the first round?

the goal is to win...you first have to believe that you will win...you first have to look for reasons why you think you will win and believe it...if you look for reasons why you are going to lose and what you are up against...you have lost before you hit the court...i'll never forget what the Chief said after the Celtics beat the 76's in 1981 after being down 3-1...probably one of the greatest series in Celtic's history...if not the greatest...Chief said they could not even think one second...not one second...about losing because if they did then they would have lost...

If the Knicks let that feeling , thee C's might not be pinned to the mat or finished

just a small crack in their mental armor .....

I small crack is all Pierce and KG need to blow their confidence

KG will pull out all the stops on this one. If the Knicks are NOT right ON or Smith finally goes COLD for a few quarters  hitting threes like crazy and they don't pull away by 20-30 points , let the C's hang around...it might wind up being on of those epic Knick / Celtic battles of all time.

I hope the Knick are cocky and don't take KG serious about this.

I think the pressure is on both teams.  Was the win without Smith a fluke?  Can the Knicks close us out?  It could go either way as far as a mental edge.

KG needs to start hitting more shots, his shot percentage is down from .49% to .44%.  I know he is hurt but it's cowboy up time or die.

  • It's all about the TEAM!
Even though it felt minimal at the time and we all knew by then we would be down 3-0, Smith's foul in Game 3 that earned an ejection and a 1 game penalty ALMOST felt like it could have been a KEY moment in the series. You know, that one moment when you feel like that maybe a momentum shift just occurred. That game was already doomed when that happened but it helped open the door for game 4.

As stated in another thread and from numerous posters here, game 5 is the big one. The Knicks still have the major upper hand going into it and all the confidence in the world that they are going to finish us off. We need an all world class game to pull out game 5. But if we do, then yes, I agree that the pressure starts building on NY. The Celtics can play as loose as they want to be. They have nothing to lose. They're already back to the wall and everyone has counted them out.

Knicks are EXPECTED to finish off the Celtics in game 5. Coming back to Boston for game 6 would be huge but certainly NOT a guaranteed win for us. But we'll have our crowd going nutzo.

If by some amazement we get to game 7. The Knicks would have to be pretty tense that they let it get to an elimination game for themselves. Could be a great time for our Vets to Step Up and take advantage of the situation. Even though the Knicks will have home court, their crowd will be very uneasy and the Celtics will have a Championship bloodline on their side.

I totally doubt ANY of this actually happens. But if we can survive game 5, I start believing we have a real chance. Although unlikely. A real chance nonetheless.

Let's be real. All the pressure is on us to extend the series. The pressure was on the Celtics to defend their home court and they failed. Let's not try to twist this into the Knicks somehow being in trouble for failing to sweep. In this series our next loss is our last loss and the Knicks have 3 more to go.

Well, we're not there yet. Game 5 is big for the Knicks, but it's vital for the Cs. Now, if the Celtics force game 6, the Knicks could feel that pressure. But even in that case, they could still lose that game and close the series at home. That's what happens when you're down 0-3 in a series.

2010 ECF was huge for the Celtics, and a big reason (with Perk injury in game 6 and Joey "MVP" Crawford in game 7) why the Celtics didn't win #18 that year. After 3-0, we heard about brooms, and then we lost games 4 and 5, and Quisy, Baby, KG and Sheed took a physical beating on those extra games (Quisy out for the year, Davis suffered a concussion, KG and Sheed back problems). The Knicks, though, have been respectful, and they tried hard on Sunday to close the series and actually sweep the Cs. The 2010 Cs were complacent in game 4, their superiority vs that Magic team was huge, while Knicks and Celtics are not that far away, it's just the Knicks executing better, defending harder and playing as a real team, unlike our preseason-like Celtics.

If the Celtics can start playing Celtic ball, though, anything's possible. It's unlikely, but if any team can do it, it's the Celtics.

I dont think pressure is more in NYK side. Cs have to win this game and hoping to get 6t game at home. If Cs play smart and hard, they can win the series. No doubts about that

I think its a little overblown.

If we win the next game, a huge game, than maybe some dount will start to creep in.

Right now they have the same confidence as before. They barely lost in ot wothout their second best player and scorer.

I'm sure they aren't worried at all especially coming back home.

But if we build on this win and win on wed with them at full strength than I think that pressure and dount starts to come into play. Maybe a divide between coach or melo and jr
dount?!? :o

sorry man I had to agree with you though
