Doc coached a young Olrlando team that over achieved and he got coach of the year.  I don't get what people are worried about.

I don't know if Doc is the best coach in the league or not but I feel he is top tier for sure.  I don't think you are going to get any other top tier coach who will want to come in and coach a rebuilding team.

Seeing the Celtics die on the vine so to speak in this series is frustrating, I get that but we all knew this was coming, in fact it was supposed to come a couple of years ago.  It is not Doc's fault that age has caught up with KG.

If we can get Phil Jackson hell yeah I want doc out of town.

The Zenmaster only coaches stacked and loaded winners.

  I know. He wouldn't last a month with a team that didn't have superior talent.

More like he wouldn't take that job in the first place. Phil Jax is many things, but stupid isn't one of them. It'd be like Jordan's stint of the Wizards--an unexciting footnote on a great career.

People are going to eat their words when it comes to Doc like they're currently doing with Rondo.

The classic "you don't know what you have until it's gone" still stays true even till today.

Chase him out of town and see what coach you end up with.

Through this season, I've lost a lot of respect for the Celtics fans.  You would think we would know better.  I've heard this garbage for the longest about how the Celtics fans are some of the most intelligent fans out there.  This couldn't be farther from the truth.

Go ahead, chase Doc out of town.

oh the irony!

btw, great rebuttal to the facts and evidence laid out all over this blog.   ::)

I've presented, along with many other people, plenty of evidence on this very blog that Doc:

1. Is not afraid to play rookies;
2. Plays big lineups when he has the personnel;
3. Rests his older players;
4. Is willing to give minutes to new and unproven players;
5. Can coach teams that out-perform their projections in the playoffs;
6. Can get over-achievement out of mediocre as well as very good teams.

I'm not sure what evidence you're talking about. But by all means, go back and read what people have written on these myths about Doc.

More important for right now, please suggest a coach you think would be superior - one we can actually get, mind you, not a coach from fantasy-land like Greg Popovich, Phil Jackson etc. - and lay out the facts and evidence as you put them to support your argument. I'd love to hear it.

What "facts" and "evidenc?"  You mean the constant thumping of nonsensical ideas that Doc only play small ball (even though we lack bigs or talented ones), doesn't emphasize rebounding (even though we barely have anybody would could play defense and rebound in a stretch), plays KG and Paul too much (even though he brilliantly managed both guys' minutes all through the reg season), doesn't play rookies (Sully? Avery? Rondo? Steimsma?).  All stupid and ridiculous ideas but it's so easy to do when all the complainers does is seat behind their computers at home and thrash a coach that's closer to the action and the guys playing than anyone of us ever will.

I'll take a large sample that contained years of brilliant coaching which includes winning us a title, taking us to the finals twice, to the eastern conference finals couple times...I'll take all that over one season of bad luck of injuries and heartache.

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would
 be a step down. I am pure 100 percent Celtic. I think if you slashed my wrists, my

  • You say when......
Doc cannot handle young, new guys....what do you think he will do..sit everyone all year.....get one star and overplay him.....like he did to pp before...back when paul pierce was the only star, he was the only one allowed to shoot or score....that is a constant failure of doc...that is why they nicely call him a players coach....as in "one who allows the players to run themselves" that is why the celtic stars played when injured, overplayed themselves, never developed anyone to share their minutes.....THEY WANT TO PLAY...the coach is supposed to manage this more wisely..!

This.

People that post and whine here baffle me. It's like Celtics fans these days assume that no matter who is on the roster, we are guaranteed a ring year after year - and if it doesn't happen, it's the coach's fault.

Was Rondo going down Doc's fault? Was the Celtics offense fizzling out in game 7 of the ECF last year Doc's fault? Should he have put in a total rookie in the fourth quarter to miraculously shower us with points? Was last year's string of injuries Doc's fault?

The grass is NOT always greener. Doc is one of the best coaches in the league. Who is anyone here to say that he wouldn't be able to coach and mentor younger talent? When you have KG and PP on your roster, you play and utilize them the most. That's just how it is. Doc doesn't choose rookies over them because they are PERENNIAL ALL STARS and VETERAN PLAYERS for a [dang] reason.

Grow up.
