Optimism irks you. You hate how positive some of these folks are. COME ON! GET REAL! WE SUCK! BLOW IT UP!

Sure. Being realistic is important.

But tagging every single thread with negativity* is kind of excessive...isn't it?

A thread about hope got shut down because of the snark and hate. Of all the threads, the one single positive thread of the night preaching hope, however blind, was shut down because of the infighting.

So, here are just some of the things you can do instead of being negative:

Root for cool teams like the Spurs, the Warriors, the Nuggets...

Enjoy the flaming train wreck of a flaming bag of poop of a  disaster that is the Lakers. We may be going out without a real bang...more of a flickering, fading flame but at least we don't have plastic people (your average Laker) and clowns.

Go on appreciation threads and appreciate our guys. Here's one for KG. Here's one for Pierce. Here's one for Green.

How about the off topic thread and the multimedia thread among the other miscellaneous threads?

Root for the kids. Jeff Green was lookin' like a beast tonight. Trade him or not it's a great story we have here.

Any other suggestions?

Prepare to be showered in Tommy Points for this post. I hope people actually realize they're being nasty to others for no good reason.

Thanks. You're a lone bright spot in a dark time.

Its so funny how the Celtics and the Lakers have a mirrored legacy.

Its almost like we're due for another finals appearance in 20 years.

Lol.

I'm rooting for the Spurs and the Nuggets.
Both excellent teams.
Actual team players.

I love the Celtics, but let's hang it up this season, and build it back up for the years to come.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I've been enjoying the Kvothe series on audiobook. Also, and our esteemed Kiorrik might also enjoy this, I've been playing Skyrim while listening to the Nerd Poker podcast. (The podcast is a bunch of friends who are also professional comedians playing a D&D campaign, which they've been doing for years)

I've been nerding out. I'm going to compensate by getting drunk with rugby buddies tomorrow.

like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner

Funny, I've literally got my D&D player's handbook in front of me. I'm preparing a campaign that we'll be playing in a week or so. DM baby! So you're quite right ;)

Even if the Celtics do stink the next five years the regular season will still be fun to watch. I enjoyed watching Al Jefferson Tony Allen Scalabrine, and even Allen Ray in 2007

Why do you really care about whether people are being negative or not? The highs are high and the lows are low. We are down 0-3 and our team is pathetic. You act like it's normal to not be upset by that. I'm basically indifferent at this point, but either way, people have the right to be as negative as they want right now

Yes. But you don't have to take that negativity everywhere you go.

This is a discussion forum. In a topic about "blowing it up", sure, have a blast. If it's about "how to turn this thing around", stay on topic. Don't go in with an attitude, because, in your own words: people have the right to be as positive as they want.

Yes but I don't go around making posts telling others how to manage their emotions

Neither am I. I'm not saying negativity is bad. I'm saying that it has it's place.

Besides, I think the whole "Don't tell me how to feel" thing is a bit of a cop-out since the OP isn't saying you should stuff your negative feelings and be positive.

The OP is trying to help you feel a bit better when you're down.

In my book, that's a nice thing to do, and doesn't warrant whinging.
