With the way people talk about Al horford being this great great player around this blog you wouldn't think this would be that farfetched

<<<EARTH TO POSTERS, EARTH To POSTERS, COME IN>>>

Blatant homerism, he will be a good player but he lacks the size and athletic ability to be a true number one pick.

Here is a comparison to rookie Kevin Love:

Kevin Love

MPG   PTS   REBOUNDS
25.3  11.1   9.1  Rebound every 2.26 min/point every 2.78

Jared Sullinger

MPG    PTS  REBOUNDS
19.8    6.0    5.9  Rebound every 3.3 min/ point every 3.35

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kevin_love/career_stats.html

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jared_sullinger/career_stats.html

Love is a better rebounder and scorer even as rookie.  Of course, he played more but per minute he gives you more.   There is a line of thought he was a bad player on a worse team however, I think Sully had it easier because he had better guys to draw off the opposition.

I think Sully will be a good nba player for years to come but play like a top one pick, get out of here....

Well down there in earth you just missed one little point, Sully put his numbers as a 5th option or worse in a playoff team with championship aspirations, while Love was a top three option on a team fighting to be in the playoff picture.    Not to mention the difference in pace that the two teams played in.  Also defense.

Al Horford IS a great great player.  He is not Lebron James or Kevin Durant, but there are not a whole lot of people better than Al Horford.  Especially since he can play both forward and Center.  He would be an all star if he played in New York or LA or even if he had a true point guard to play with instead of Jeff Teague and Josh Smith "running the point."

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
I think Sully would thrive best as Boston's first big off the bench.  I don't see him as a starter, but more of as a hustle guy that's going to grab boards, carve out space down low, and make the other team feel his presence.  He's best as an impact bench guy who plays are 22-24 minutes a game.

Sullinger was widely thought to be the #1 overall pick in 2011 at one point in time.
Yeah, that's dandy. Chris Taft was projected as a top 5 pick in 2005, and the initial mock drafts by DraftExpress and NBADraft.net had him first overall for a while.

Remember Chris Taft? Yeah, me neither.
I remember him at pittsburgh, and I remember being shocked people thought he was going to be a player.
Coincidentally, outside of the remarkable draft day slide, his career was also cut short by a procedure similar to Sullinger's.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

I am looking forward to seeing a lot more of Sully next year.

Either as a starting PF alongside Garnett as a third big (PF/C) in the rotation. I think Sully could get 30-34 minutes a night as a starter or 26-30 minutes a night as a backup. A big part of the team.

Do you think he'll be able to stay on the floor that long?

Sure. Just play him until he fouls out. Some nights he won't make it. Most nights he will.

He will learn how to play without fouling so much as he gains more experience. Just gotta throw him out there and let him learn by making mistakes.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
As of right now I seem him as a nice role player and potential trade chip. I also put AB on the same boat. Rondo and Green are the only guys I consider a probable lock in our future. IMO, we need a guy of similar or equal talent level to Rondo(another game changer), and we fill the rest as we go along.

sully isn't underrated by fans.  At best he'll be a poor man's Carlos Boozer.

A poor man's Carlos Boozer would be somebody who gives you 14-15 points and 8 or 9 rebounds a night while playing solid defense.  So I'd be just fine with that.
