The NBA and Stern are pathetic.  Instead of fixing their poor and biased officiating, they fine coaches and players (as long as they're not named LeBron or Wade) for criticizing it.  I'm a grown man, but if I could pay $5 to spit in Stern's face, I'd seriously consider it.

p.s. Personally, I wish the League would go back to the physicality of the 70s, 80s, and mid-90s.  The game has gotten too soft and it pampers its star players.  I blame the Jordan-era for what the League has become.

Imagine how long McHale would have been suspended for clothes-lining Rambis if he did it in today's game.

That was worth 25,000?
Apparently, "horrendous" is a $25,000 word.

I think I remember certain player, by the name of Lebron James, making comments about officiating after he was "man-handled" by the Bulls. I don't think the League even noticed. Matter of fact, I think there was an article the next day, on ESPN saying that the players are tougher now than they were in 80's and 90's. Pretty much saying that Lebron is taking some serious beatings.

Thank you. Lebron said worse than what Doc said (straight called out the refs and gave examples of "missed callls") and not only did he not get fined, they gave Taj a flagrant for the play and media sat there defending him calling out Chicago for the way they defended that team.
I promise if I weren't a Celtics fan I would be done with the NBA.
The league needs to stop it with these B.S. fines and get their refs together.

If LeBron thinks he's taking a beating, he doesn't know what a real beating is.

Our buddy Dwight does, not even a foul called though. All the Celts need is a purple and gold home jersey, they'll be able to get away with murder.

Can you imagine if Celticsblog fined $25,000 to me or anyone else who used the word "horrendous" to describe something someone else posted? Jeff would be a billionaire a billion times over by now.

Really?  Are you serious?  Those were some of the most mild mannered $25,000 fine comments I have ever seen.  Doc and the C's should be steamed about the fine.

There is such a selective memory when it comes to these things though.  There is no consistency with how they hand out these fines.  From the on the court stuff that is missed 1/2 the time by the league reviews, to other players spouting off with NO fines whatsoever.  Just makes the whole thing seem like a joke and cheapens the game.  One rule for everyone and then maybe the front office would get some respect.

Doc deserves it. Maybe if he won us a game, it's be different but he got destroyed not once, but twice. Win us a game, then talk.

Imagine how long McHale would have been suspended for clothes-lining Rambis if he did it in today's game.

do you realize McHale didn't even get a technical or a flagrant foul call (if those existed in 1984) for his beheading of Rambis.

funny thing about that was, people point to that one play as the turning point of the series (and it did have a big impact) - but the Celts were already being more physical in that game (remember Bird backing Michael Cooper azz over teacups into the reporters).

also, the Lakers had a few runs after McHale's play - they didn't just wilt right then and there. they had double-digit leads after Rambis went down and were up 5 with a minute left when Parish saved us with maybe THE play of the series - two offensive rebounds and finally a putback with Kareem fouling him.

that '84 team had so much heart - and to think that offensive rebounding won them that series (look at us now).
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce
