He knew it was coming: Doc Rivers fined for $25,000 for his comments on officiating after Game 2. Ripped 3 foul calls on Garnett #celtics

Yep, I knew that was coming too.

His comment:

Quote
“Listen, I thought the fouls on Kevin, first of all they were horrendous,” Rivers said after the Celtics fell in to a 2-0 hole in the best-of-seven series that shifts to Boston for Game 3 Friday.

“And secondly, I thought they had a huge effect on us,” Rivers continued. “Kevin had three fouls that . . . I was . . . I mean, him not being on the floor, playing 24 minutes and never getting your rhythm, where you could see, it looked like he was going to have a game, it hurt us.

“That’s just the way it goes. There’s nothing I can do about it now. I thought if it could’ve gone either way on three of those, they all went against Kevin. I think that’s tough.”

Apparently, "horrendous" is a $25,000 word.

I think I remember certain player, by the name of Lebron James, making comments about officiating after he was "man-handled" by the Bulls. I don't think the League even noticed. Matter of fact, I think there was an article the next day, on ESPN saying that the players are tougher now than they were in 80's and 90's. Pretty much saying that Lebron is taking some serious beatings.

if that gets a fine, doc should have said more. you know, how the knicks have been allowed to absolutely mug our guys when we try to set the offense. i didn't see a lot of egregious calls against us in game 1 (re: our fouls), but there were a lot in game 2. and...yes...again, in both games, the knicks (esp. melo, shumpert, and jr smith) have been allowed to constantly foul our guys with few whistles.

Doc didn't get his money's worth.

He could have said a lot more.

When is the league going to issue the fines for flopping that it claimed it would enforce?
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

In Game 1 they had to finally start calling Melo, because he was tugging and grabbing on every part of Green's uniform. PP get's a full cavity search every time he enters the paint. They molest the sweatband off of him and he doesn't get a call (especially game 2).

Now expect them to really hammer us with even poorer officiating. I say we probably get Crawford or Doc's friend Bill Kennedy.

And that is why the league today is a joke. It's also funny how the Spurs were fined for resting players (against the Heat) but when the Heat did it, no fine. The league is as one sided in punishments as the refs are in foul calls during games

Doc deserves it. Maybe if he won us a game, it's be different but he got destroyed not once, but twice. Win us a game, then talk.

I had a feeling that was coming after I saw Doc's post game conference. I just didn't know how soon. Doc should have said way more than just "horrendous" for 25,000. Tha NBA protects these refs no matter how rogue or incompetent and it's ruins tha game of basketball. They take over these games, make it about them, and pretty much do whatever they want on tha court and still get away with it.

Tha NBA should fine these refs for tha calls they make and stop fining these players, coaches, and owners for having a right to free speech. It's unnecessary money being wasted that they're working for.

I knew the fine was coming, because the league is so dang touchy (although that seems to be selective).

And the idea that players are tougher now is a joke. And LeBron is the last guy who should be complaining. Dude barrels into the paint all the time and gets the call 99% of the time. Things that are flagrant-2 fouls today were just personal fouls in the '80s. If LeBron thinks he's taking a beating, he doesn't know what a real beating is.

Which is why I don't think Lebron could handle tha style of basketball that was played in that time. Or tha 90s.
