Not only did he fail to sign Chris Birdman Anderson and Kenyon Martin, but due to his bad treatment of Martin, he also gave him tons of motivation to do whatever in his means to destroy this little puppy of a green team that plays for 2 quarters.

If recent reports were of any truth, which they look like they are, then we made it look like to Martin that we are signing him and then just left him unsigned for an unspecified reason.

Tons of motivation for him and he is destroying us, whether you want to admit it or not.

Not only that, we also failed to sign Anderson, who is having a pretty effective season for Miami.

Oh what a beautiful job you have done, Ainge.

Kenyon Martin has probably played with more heart than the entire Celtics team combined.

Has he ever addressed why he passed on Martin?

This all started by not signing Andray Blatche during the offseason.

Passing on Birdman makes sense.  He has/had some legal issues that I'd rather not mess with.

Overlooking Kenyon Martin is just inconceivable to me.

I don't recall, did we really have much of a shot for birdman in the first place?

It is pretty unbelievable. Both are playing great for the 1 and 2 seeds and we won't play any big bedsides KG (I'm not counting Bass -- no size, no length). Either one (in hindsight) would have been great for us and a big takeaway from the Knicks or Heat.

Danny sucks at big men. I can't remember the last good one he picked up. It must be pretty painful to see how those two guys are contributing, as they surely would have on this C's team with KG.

I think he said at that time they were dealing with the Barbosa injury and trying to find another guard and by that time Kenyon was with the Knicks..I'm not totally buying that though because I think they signed some of the China guys before Kenyon signed.

To the OP - Good question my friend.

Admittedly, I think I may have passed on Birdman too.

He kinda creeps me out.

But KMart and Blatche....Ainge screwed up big time (not the first time and won't be the last, unfortunately.)

Also, did we ever get a clear-cut reason as to why Darko left the team? I don't know about you, but we could use anyone taller than 6'4 right about now.

Hell right about now even Nenad Krstic sounds like a good pickup.

Oh, how things have gone downhill  ???

If having him on free agency for about 2 months means anything, then yes, we had "much of a shot."

Never liked the guy so I didn't pay attention to him. Did know if we're a team he would've played for.
