Raptors want perimeter shooters and veterans this off-season.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/227349/Raptors-Would-Likely-Need-To-Include-Asset-To-Trade-Bargnani

They may need to include assets to dump Bargnani's contract.

Do the celtics offer Bass, Terry and maybe Melo (if needed) for Bargnani?

Raptors get two vets and a prospect for a player who has become a lame duck for them.

Celtics get a talented but underachieving and often injured player for 2 over payed years.

I personally like the idea of a KG,Sully, and Barg big man rotation with Green getting some minutes at the 4. If Sully is healthy and Bargs can get back to 80% of what he was a year ago (still only 27) then the Cs have a nice group of bigs. I also think Bargs offensively is a great match with RR.

I think Bargnani does need a change of scenery. He would also be pretty effective in pick and pops playing with a PG like Rondo. This also seems to be the type of player (stretch 4) that Ainge covets. I do like it. High upside deal.

IDK, is there any chance a guy like Bargs would last even one practice with KG?  I mean, the guy doesn't even know what the word 'defense' means.  I'd add his lack of knowledge of the word 'rebounding' as well, but, as evidenced by our rebounding numbers the last few years, Doc doesn't seem fazed by this type of mentality.

He is a very good offensive player though, so maybe him and KG would make a good pair.  Eh, IDK, I just am not that fond of Bargs (even if he is an Italiano).

I highly doubt Danny would be interested in a one dimensional player the like Bargnani. Bargnani doesnt' do anything outside of scoring at an average clip, but he's payed like a low tier star. He doesn't provide anything our team is lacking, plus he has a crap contract.

What veteran shooters do we have other than Terry (washed up) or Pierce (not going to Toronto)?

If we could get Bargnani and an 'asset' for Bass and Terry, we obviously have to jump on it. If he doesn't work out, then he becomes an expiring the next year. Bargnani obviously has the talent - maybe KG could light a fire under his butt. Toronto is the land of the forgotten right now - I would be happy to give him a shot.

And what happens to the C's defense with Bargnani?

Don't forget how much Ainge liked Yi-Jian Lian and how we landed Troy Murphy after he cleared waivers. One we didn't draft (thankfully) and the other one didn't work out, but it doesn't change the fact of the type of player (stretch 4) that Ainge likes. I also remember Ainge and Doc, after the Sheed signing, gushing about how much his 3pt shooting will help our offense, and especially Rondo during high pick and pops and in overall spacing.

I get that Bass is a better defensive player than Bargs, but Terry sure isn't. You do this trade to make a splash - it may really work out in terms of talent. I don't think our defense really takes a hit if we have the same team as we did this year - KG and a lot of excellent wing / guard defenders.

If I'm Danny I'd consider bringing in Bargnani if he is coming back healthy.

I'm happy to move Terry at the moment and consolidate our SG position. I think Crawford can step in and do what Terry was supposed to. Bass has been clicking of late, but I'd rather take the chance on Bargnani rather than hope Bass stays on form.

His defense is terrible, but he could potentially step it up on this team and with KG pushing him. Even still I don't think it will be too damaging and his size could really make a difference. He could potentially add a real punch to our offense.

He has more upside than either Terry or Bass. He could put up 15-20 and 5 boards a night.

I'd do it, if only to see the "BC traded for Jason Terry?!" Sigs on realgm.

Seriously though I think Terry could use a change of scenery too. He's asked to play in ways that he's not comfortable with here be it off the ball with Rondo, late clock 3 pointer bailout for Pierce or well active member in a non zone defnesive system.

He would be a good vet in the locker room and would compliment they're young guard rotation well.  I just have never really thought of Terry as a "Boston Player" a bit flashy, runs his mouth in the media, just not the kind of dirt dog I'm looking for in someone who will be a huge part of shaping my team's culture.

Where he is never going to be a defensive stud, I could see him playing much better on a defensive minded team. He at least has the size and length to clog up the paint when kg is off the court. His rebounding bothers me but if sully is healthy he should be the anchor on the defensive glass and obviously doc doesn't worry about offensive rebounds.

The offense would be interesting. I think barg and green would be able to combine to pull a lot of offensive load off of pp and kg. think of rondo and sully running pick and role with green and bargs sitting in each corner, rondo will have a field day.

We can't get Bargnani and an asset for Bass and Terry as Bass and Terry have as much if not more negative value than Bargnani.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I can't see Toronto making a deal for Bass, JET and Melo since Bass and JET aren't very desirable assets and are on deals the same length as Bargs.  If the Raps would do this, I'd pull the trigger simply because Bargs is the better offensive player, has a contract the same length as those 2 and could improve on D (speculation but until he plays for a defensive team and fails, I can't write him off as a crappy defender)
