So I am wondering what people think is going to happen to the 5 players that make up the end of our bench. I am thinking that before any trades go down the Celtics definite assets they have that are going to be here without a trade are:

Garnett
Pierce
Bass
Rondo
Bradley
Terry
Lee
Crawford
Sullinger
Green
1st round draft choice

That's a pretty good core but some changes will need to be made and some size brought in. Now, do you think the end of the bench players will still be a apart of this team or gone elsewhere.

Personally I think some of the non guaranteed contracts are history in a trade with a SG(Terry, Lee, Crawford) and maybe a big(Melo, Bass). I think that will be the best way to upgrade the main core.Wilcox stands a chance at returning but as, at best, a 14th-15th player. I think if more than one SG goes, Barbosa could be back as well.

And of course, a lot might depend on who and what they draft so there is also that variable.

Well, have fun deciding where you think people end up and don't forget to tell why.

We will most likely depending on how the playoffs go. Try to trade Terry or Lee, package them with DJ White or Crawford for a serviceable big men.

If anything, I hope we keep Shavlik/Terrence. Crawford may stay as Doc has shown alot of interest in him.

I think the China guys were only signed through next season in order to try and trade them. So I don't expect any of them to be on the team next season. Whether Danny can pull off a trade or not, who knows. But either way, I don't expect any of them back next season. And I hope none of them come back.

I think Chris Wilcox pretty much has a 50-50 shot at staying as a third string big man. I am going to guess "no" though due to time spent on injured list and recovering from injuries.

I expect Fab Melo to stay with the team. I hope he doesn't spend another year in the D-League because I don't the quality there is good enough for a player like him to develop so I hope he remains with the team next season. Although it appears Danny and Doc share a different view on the D-League than I do so I'd say it's probable Fab Melo spends another (wasted?) year down there.

I don't want Jordan Crawford back either. He is another guy who can be shown the door.

I wouldn't be surprised if 2 out of the three or all of them are back next year, actually.  DJ White hasn't really shown much in his time here -- at least that we've seen on the court -- so he may be gone.

But I'm operating on the assumption that next year will be a rebuilding year.  If that's the case, the China guys will be a cheap way to keep the roster filled out.

Regardless, I think Shav has shown enough to at least get a chance to make the team in training camp, and so long as T-Will hasn't had attitude issues off the court, I think he has potential which is worth investing in a little bit.

I'd say that Melo and Randolph will be back unless they are traded.  Melo has a guaranteed contract for next season, so he isn't getting cut.  Randolph has proven enough already to have earned a spot.

White and Williams are trade bait, and nothing more.  If we can't trade them by their guarantee date, they will be cut.

Wilcox returning likely depends on other roster moves.  He probably won't be re-signed until late in the off-season, if at all.

I too think that the non-guaranteed nature of those China 3 contracts makes them eminently desirable on the trade market, especially to a team looking to trim as much cap space as possible for a big name free agent (Dallas, perhaps). So I think they'll be dealt somehow.

[Edit: BTW, all three of those China 3 contracts were signed in time to make them all eligible to be traded after June 21. Draft Night is June 27. Just sayin'.]

I don't know what's going to happen with Melo. I think it's entirely possible that he's a chip in a larger trade.

Re: Wilcox, your guess is as good as mine. Considering he was nearly dealt at the deadline, and has been pretty inconsistent his time in Boston, I would not be shocked if he's not brought back, or used in a sign and trade. I also wouldn't be surprised if he's brought back on a cheap contract.

Package Terry, Lee, Fab Melo, and Crawford for Gortat and filler?

Or any Center at the caliber of or better than Gortat?  ::)

I feel like someone just asked me which piece of gum I think will still be on my shoe next year.

But anyway I think we will try to move Crawford, who is likely to have a little bit of value. I'd put Randolph in that bin too.

Williams, I just feel like they would run him through a full training camp to see if his talent can pan out. I still see him as having upside.

White is a goner, and no one will want him.

Melo, I think we keep because he has little to no trade value, but may end up getting better.

Wilcox is out. If he can't convince Doc to give him minutes after all this time, with all of our other injuries, he has zero value on this roster.

So I guess I predict TWill will be the only one who sticks.

I hope I'm right.

That kind of package won't get Gortat. You've got to include something of value there. A 2014 1st rounder, at the very least.

And you need to offer less long term money, too. Why would Phoenix trade away a good player on a short contract for two "less good" players on long-term deals?

I don't think any of them will play meaningful minutes for us next year.

I think that Randolph and Wilcox have the best shot at it. Melo will still be around until we figure out what to do with him, but what we do with him will not be putting him on the team.

Wilcox is a Bird-rights free agent.

This means he can be used for some more substantial padding in a sign & trade than just a minimum contract.    No one probably wants him for large money on a big contract, but you could send him on a short (1 or 2 year) deal for something like 4M per as part of a salary package to bring back a bigger, longer contract that someone wants to unload.

Beyond pointing that out, I have no idea yet who will stay or not.

Too much depends on how the playoffs go and what happens with Pierce's contract and then the draft.

Crawford, I think he is almost a sure one right now. Shav, Doc likes him and I think he gets a chance this summer but he's not a sure thing (I hope Doc REALLY gives him a chance). Wilcox, I think he will be a filler, but I'd almost bet my home that he won't be here when all is said and done (probably be free to sign in Mia lol). TWill, isn't a guarantee but I could see him staying, second only to Crawford... they have been looking for a RR sub for years, with time, he can be that (cheap at that).

Shav and TWill will get a great shot at sticking, I think.

I see Fab as the ultimate trade filler at this point.

But I only agreed with the majority on Shav and TWill being back.
