RE: Brandon Bass has been our best player throughout our past 25 games

First things first, since I said Brandon Bass is our best player, it should be no surprise that we have had just a 11-14 record (it's actually not that bad really). Think about it, Brandon Bass isn't an All-Star, and he's not even close.

He's stepped up big time when Pierce and KG have sat, and his biggest grievance (rebounding) has been tremendous. The effort has been there and he's averaging a whopping 6.4rpg, which is pretty amazing considering he's Brandon Bass. He's outmuscled centers (even if you don't like him playing as center... blame Doc) for boards and putbacks.

Next, his shooting has skyrocketed. He's shooting 57.3% on field goal attempts, which is fantastic for a big man (over the year, he'd be ranked fourth in the LEAGUE with the likes of DeAndre Jordan and Tyson Chandler). However, the most ridiculous part? He doesn't take higher-percentage post-up shots or get to the rim often. He's one of the league-leaders in field goal attempts from the mid-range and he's been converting at an absurd rate. He's had 10 games of shooting over 66% and just one below 45%, which is truly amazing.

Finally, according to Synergy (ESPN), he's been one of the league leaders in 1v1 defense (high 90s percentile). He has more assists than turnovers, heck more blocks than turnovers, and has been the stable guy we've been looking for during this crazy period of 21 turnover games. He's stayed healthy and hasn't missed a game all year and stepped up big in Game 1 by making all his FGAs as well as snagging down 10 rebounds for our team.. which is also tremendous.

He's been averaging over 30 minutes per game and playing at an extremely high level for a "bench player". If we're going anywhere this postseason, I'm giving lots of credit to Brandon Bass who has been a model of consistency for the team. He's been vastly underrated and if he keeps this up while other players step up, great things could happen. Don't forget Brandon.

I didn't think I'd say this, but Brandon Bass has been our best player over the past 25 games. It's true.

Can you prove it? Besides just saying it's so?

Well that would explain our 11-14 record in those 25 games...

Jeff Green might be better.

Problem is not that though.

Problem is our supporting cast is so thin. Like last year. It's not that Rondo/KG isn't good but when guys like Dooling and Hollins are so high up on your rotation there's a problem (with an ailing Pierce and Ray Allen).

This year we have a bunch of guards who can't figure it out. AB is playing out of position. After AB we have zero guards that get it.

Thought Green had a better close to the season.

Either way, if you're debating whether Jeff Green or Brandon Bass was your best player in the past 25 games, odds are you aren't doing so hot.

Bass won't wow you with 20-10 games or 40-point explosions, but he's tremendous. See my earlier post.

Most consistent player & best player don't necessarily go hand in hand.

If Bass wasn't our best player, Jeff should have been.

His importance the team is often overlooked and his net upside has been better than Pierce's, in my opinion. I want to see him have another 18-point quarter more than anything.

With all due respect to role players like Brandon Bass and Jeff Green, I submit that the guy who has been averaging 18.8 points on 13 field goal attempts, shooting 48.5% from the field, 42.5 from three, while averaging 6.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game since the all star break has been our best player over the course of the last 25 games.

In case anyone hasn't guessed it, that player is Paul Pierce.

I would like to think that's an opinion more so than a fact. I would say Bass has been better tha past 25 games but not tha best player. Jeff Green has come on strong and Paul Pierce has been tha Jack of all trades these days.

Not dismissing Bass' effort tho. Bass has really turned tha corner and seems to be improving his game. He's attacking tha basket more other than just shooting jumpers. If he can develop a lil hook shot, he'll be tough to guard.

Bass has been outperforming expectations consistently might be a better way to put it. Edit: I meant to say, considering everything, especially his performance this year.

The Jet would be on the opposite end of the spectrum. Lee would be on the bad end but not nearly as bad as the Jet.

Green can dominate whenever he wants. But his expectations are all over the place. I expect him to be inconsistent til' next year, when his stamina is back he'll be massive.

In what world is 6.4 rebounds per game "whopping"?  For a PF it's pretty low.

Bass has gotten back to the level of play I expected when he signed his contract.  Consistent midrange jumper, occasionally attacking the basket and finishing well when he gets there, very solid individual defense, below average rebounding and the occasional missed rotation.  To me, that's worth his contract.  Too bad we only got it for a third of the year, but at least he's contributing at the right time.

Not the best player on the team at all, but a solid positive asset.

Easily, I don't see how it's even debatable.
