Yeah, totally disagree with this. Doc couldn't hold a candle to pop.

Gregg Popovich is obviously the premier coach in the NBA today. If he were our coach, we may have a few more wins, but it would be pretty irrelevant as we are missing our best player.

Every coach eventually becomes the enemy. If Popovich sticks around after Duncan, Manu, and Parker are gone, I am sure fans will be calling for his head, too. If Jerry Sloan can get lambasted and thrown out to pasture, anybody can.

As a side note, I am fine with Doc as our coach for as long as he wants to be. We have been lucky to field such a competitive group for these past 6 years. While there are a couple of other coaches out there that I wouldn't mind having, I am of the mindset that the grass is always greener.

  Not only that but he could coach exactly like Doc has and half the people killing Doc would be gushing over how well he's handling the roster.

It would be pretty much the same.

Doc's limited the vets' minutes (even giving them games off), he's experimented with different lineups (mainly due to injuries), and he's been a motivator.

Doc definitely has his shortcomings.  He also has the one skill coaches truly need to 'win' in this league, ego-management/team building.

Elite players go a along way too.  It's still a players' league.

The offensive schemes would be much better. Pop utilizes talent better than Doc. Doc is not even on the same level as Pop.

Wrong.  It might not be more successful, but there would be clear differences.  For example...

Would Pop tolerate Rondo assist-padding by passing up layups and easy shots to throw the ball back out for a jump shot?

Would Pop allow the Celtic offense to consistently stagnate and fall apart the way it has for the last several seasons?

Would Pop put up with the attitude and behavior that Doc has complained about this year without ever making any visible adjustment or change to the team?

How many grade school-terrible passes by Avery Bradley would Pop accept?

You can argue that Pop couldn't be more successful with this group of players.  The idea he wouldn't do anything different is crazy.

If we had Rondo and were still struggling then you could make arguments, but without Rondo we are simply at our talent threshold.

Pop can't make KG, PP and Terry younger. He can't fix injuries to Sully and Rondo. And he can't make our China castoffs into all-stars.

And you can't blame Doc for those same things. We just aren't as good as we have been in the past. Plain and simple.
