now this is neither here nor there and I'm not someone who's hellbent on missing/needing Ray. But I just thought this last sentence was very telling...

Privately, Allen is pleased with the increased offensive freedom he’s received from Spoelstra, specifically posting up smaller players, which is something he said he wasn’t allowed to do in Doc Rivers’s offense.

says a lot to me...to those of you who get mad with Jeff just hovering around the 3pt line or Shav always under the basket or T-Will not shooting, etc. etc. Just wondering at what point are we going to start holding Doc accountable.

I always hold him accountable. Unfortunately, most of the forums thinks hes the greatest coach that has ever lived. I'm exaggerating just a bit. I don't like doc, I don't trust doc, I don't believe in doc.

most forums and blogger/analysts feel like doc is the greatest. i just dont see it, at least not this year. especially his handling of Jason Terry. I think he's just half bad and half not good in this ultra specific offense.

I continue to say when you have less talented folks, this offense is great because they aren't multi-dimensional. You tell a Ryan Hollins to stand in the paint and look pretty because that works. You can't tell a versatile scorer like Jason Terry (or Ray Allen) to run through a bunch of screens for a shot.

When we trade JET and he CONSISTENTLY scores 15-18ppg on someone else's bench everyone's going to be so confused lol.

As an avid Ray Allen supporter - in past AND present - we need to move on, IMO.

Whatever Ray did or didn't do in BOS...whatever Doc allowed him to do (or not do)....Ray Allen is simply the enemy to me, now.

BOS needs to right itself vs NY 1st, then set its sights on beating whomever and finally settling this thing with MIA - and Ray Allen.

I think it's very natural to miss Ray - I certainly have at times. But with Jeff Green's increased production in our lineup, this team isn't hurting for points anymore.

Ray Allen is history, to me. We need to beat him (and MIA) to finally bury Ray Allen.

Don't think Ray Allen was the point as much as Doc was.
But I agree.

Doc's certainly not perfect, so I can agree with the OP's concerns, definitely.

But as a coach, I'm sure Doc is seeing things that most of us aren't...I say "most" of us, because I know we have a considerable amount of basketball knowledge here on the blog.

But even with that, I still trust Doc.

BOS will get this right.

We'd have to make up our minds first, we spent the better part of a season blaming Rondo's iron-fisted control of the team for such things.

Just for fun, according to synergy sports, the number of post up plays Ray had this year? *19*. Apparently he savored every last one of them.

Yeah, that's not really significant, but is it up from last year?

I'm sure ray is thrilled playing 15 min less the game, taking fewer shots, scoring less, and having worse fg and 3 point percentage.

Keep fighting that fight tho ray

And he took 9 million dollar less to do it all.  Keep fighting that fight Ray!

Yeah, Ray is just along for the Heat ride. Hopefully for Miami's sake he actually shows up to play in the playoffs [unlike in Boston]. It doesn't really matter, though. If they bench him, they will perform just as well.

If he ends this season with another ring *Very likely* then I'm sure he will be thrilled.
