If Rondo is the best player on the C's, that means the C's lack talent and are in pretty bad shape. Rondo cannot/should not be the best player on any team that has title aspirations.

Well in the Miami series last yr if your name wasn't Lebron, he was the best in the ENTIRE series. Him and KG kept the team going.

What a troll topic. Rondo is OBVIOUSLY hurting this team. It's not like he'd help with 20 turnovers or anything. It's not like he'd actually be able to drive, penetrate and break down the defense or anything. And he certainly wouldn't make plays in the 4th quarter when we need them the most. It's not like he averaged 17 pts, 11 assists and 7 rebounds in the playoffs last year. You must be wrong, because people on this very forum told me we're better without Rondo.

Rondo had a great series against Miami. But if you notice in that series he was hitting his jumper at an insane clip. He was even draining multiple 3 point shots. If he played like that all the time he would be Chris Paul. But we all know Rondo cannot play like that all the time. Rondo is a limited player whose skill set is unique. In my opinion he does not have the offensive tools to be the best player on a title team. Rondo is best as a complimentary player.

I miss Ray.

I liked our ball-movement... we were a little careless with passes and clearly rusty with the playoff lineup, but I sincerely doubt we'll have 20 turnovers again the next game.

Boston in 5.

He doesn't have to be the best. I think Jeff Green can take that title when Pierce retires, and I have a feeling Rondo wouldn't mind one bit.

Lol.  Love that sarcasm.

People hating on Rondo are just ridiculous and ignorant

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Whaa? Playoff Rondo is a top 10 player in this league. He was better than Chris Paul in the playoffs last year, I would say.

Rondo is only limited in one aspect of his game, and that is his FT shooting. In the 2012-2013 season, he was one of the better mid range jump shot shooters in the league. He was hitting more than 50% of his 16 feet to 3 point line shots.

With the way Rondo plays I don't think he wants to be "The Guy"..he can score off the dribble at will, but he's more content with making plays, IF he has to be a scorer he can be,I just think it's not in his mindset..sorta like Kg (who doesn't focus on scoring).

I don't think so either.

The teams offense is still below average with Rondo running the point. The offense has been bad for like the past 4 years. Rondo gets a lot of assists, but the offense still consistently stinks.

When Rondo is engaged, he makes his mark on the defensive end with steals, and in the rebounding game. Rondo typically has little effect on the offense because even when he plays this team struggles to score points.

Rondo impacts the game by doing different things, but I don't think he WANTS to be the leading scorer on the team. He'd rather get his team open. But I guess it depends on people's definition of "The Guy"

People don't get this.

Had Rondo played today... the game would have been different, but not necessarily better

Our lineup and our playing style would have to be completely adjusted to tailor Rondo's strengths AND weaknesses.

Sure maybe Rondo gets you 11 assists and less turnovers... but would Jeff Green drop an efficient 26 points, 7 boards and 3 blocks?... probably not, since Green needs the ball to be effective and Rondo requires the ball 24/7.

Would we have limited JR Smith as well as we did... would we continue to start Bradley?... would the Knicks take advantage of a size mismatch if Bradley was playing SG?   Would we have shot a perfect 19/19 from the line?..

We don't know...  We know that we were in the middle of a 6 game losing streak when Rondo went out and played brilliantly once he was gone, we know that we have zero evidence that Green and Rondo can be effective at the same time (Green needs space... and Rondo without the ball doesn't help spread the floor), we don't know yet if Rondo can be effective in a free-flowing ball-sharing offense or if his lack of shooting ability would be a liability.

The game would have been different.  The score would have been different.  We don't know if we would have won, though.

Anyways... we'll probably sweep the next 4 so I wouldn't stress it.
