and has been terrible for 3/4 of this series.

Umm...

In the last three games Terry has averaged:

* 14 points
* 3 assists
* 1 turnover
* 52% FG
* 44% 3PT
* 86% FT

Could you please:

1. Describe to me where in the world those numbers would be considered 'terrible'

2. Name me any player (aside from Melo, Felton, JR Smith, KG, Pierce, Green) who as put together better numbers than that in 3/4 games of this series.

Yes his first game was a stinker, but in the past three games he has been EASILLY our fourth best player - just like he has been throughout this entire season.

Lol, stats do NOT tell the whole story. If you're honestly going to sit here and tell me that Terry has had an impact this series  other than yesterday you're absolutely kidding yourself.

Actually, they do.

You see, at the end of the game two things determine a win and a loss - the number of points scored and the number of points allowed. As fancy as all the stats get, at the end of the day the team that scores the most points wins.

Game 1 - Terry was scoreless. Offensively, he gave the team no boost. However, our he also handled the ball well and only had a single turnover the entire game, meaning the opposition only had the potential to score 2 points off Terry's turnovers.  This was in a game where our three primary playmakers (Pierce, AB, Green) had 16 turnovers between them - that's 32 potential opponent points from those turnovers, and those turnovers cost us the game. Terry only played 20 minutes in a game where we could have greatly benefitted from having a guy who could make sonud decisions with the ball and run the offense without turning it over.  This game came down to the wire and if we gave Terry some extra minutes at the Point (instead of forcing the matter with AB, Green and Pierce) the turnover count would have likely been half what it was, and we probably win the game.

Game 2 - The problem here was simple.  Another close game, we were leading for 3/4 of the game an then lost it in the final quarter.  Problem?  We just didn't score enough points.   We had a defiantely chance to win this game, but without the 9 points from Terry (given how low scoring the game was) we probably would have been blown out.

Game 3- Terry was again one of our biggest producers on offense.  We got blown out in this game...did Terry's 14 points made the the difference between a win and a loss?  No, but that's not because of his output being insufficient...it's because the rest of the team (outside of Pierce / KG / Green / Terry) did NOTHING on offense.  That blame is not on Jet, who scored more points (at a higher percentage) than Bradley, Bass, Lee, Crawford and Williams combined...while also not commiting a single turnover.

Game 4 - Don't even need to mention this one, because Terry clearly won this game for us.

Basically what you guys are trying argue is that Terry has been useless because he's only given us what he's supposed to give us.  Terry isn't Rondo - he's not going to give us a 30 point, 15 rebound, 15 assist game.  He's not Green either, he's not going to score 40.  He's not there to do that.  He's there to give us solid double figure production, make sound decisions with the ball, and hit the occasional big shot when needed...he's done just that.

That's all just speculation. I could easily say the same thing and say if Jet would have scored when we needed him to we would have won. Again, i like jet but he has NOT been effective this series besides game 4. Points in garbage time don't influence the outcome of a game.

Yeah bench him. He sucks. One good game and we're ready to forgive him for a disappointing season?

You guys were saying...?

This would be the third straight 14+ point game by Terry in this series, and I'd love to hear anybody say he's had no impact on this game...

Instead of swept we are now taking it to a game,  and Terry has a lot to do with it.

Lol nobody is rooting against him, we're all Celtics fans here.  I still like Jet and it was another clutch performance. Doesn't change my view that he was bad the first 3 games and a lot of the season.

Don't understand why you get such pleasure out of instigating this over and over.

he still shot a crappy percentage.  if he and PP hit a seasonable percentage of their shots this game wouldn't have been close.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
I really disliked the JET signing from day one and it has carried through to the last game. Thank God he's making me eat my words and has absolutely saved this series. Thanks Jason Terry, for illustrating how little I really know about basketball, and for quoting Kevin Millar every opportunity you get.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Jason Terry has the weirdest contract in the world. Apparently he only has to show up from game 4 in the playoffs and on
