FYI, the NBA's draft order was just announced. The Celtics will pick 16th overall. They have no second-round pick.

I'm not really following this draft class. Who should the C's acquire and where did their 2nd round pick go?

not like we really need to draft a second rounder that we would most likely waive anyway

well, there'll probably be good value picks in the second round. This draft is weak in the lottery, but you have lots of kids in the 15-30 range who can end being better than the lottery picks, and then you have kids who could go undrafted or late in second round. Right now draftexpress has Kenny Kadji undrafted, and nbadraft has him at #46, Muscala at #51, Peyton Siva at #57, to name a few.

Out of Noel, Bennett and maybe McLemore, Burke and MCW, there's not a lot of prospects in the lottery that impress you. Of course, there will be solid players picked all over the board. There's also a lot of long time projects like Giannis, Saric, Gobert, Dieng, Adams, Nogueira... but not a lot of sure starters in the NBA.

I hope the 16th pick is used in a great potential kid, or traded for a 2014 pick (yeah, that's not happening) or packaged with a player or two to get a solid contributor for next year.

If we had a second rounder - even if we were rebuilding - the best case scenario is they would go to the Red Claws.  I am fine with drafting someone like Giannis Adetokoubo at 16 and calling it a day.

the 14 teams that missed the playoffs are the first 14 picks (barring picks being traded) and then the C's have the 2nd worst record of the playoff teams with Milwaukee being the worst and thus the 15th pick

Watch as our late-season tanking pays off and we get the steal of the draft... a franchise player for the next decade.

How hilarious would that be...

Even better would be Ainge pulling off some magic and trading down in the draft, getting a Rondo-level player somewhere in the 20s, and picking up a couple of second-round picks, at least one of which becomes a quality rotation player.

outside of the top ten, there are no possible franchise players this year, or even anyone that could be a borderline all-star.

you may think that it is not possible to predict who will be good - but mostly, it is... and there are no one as of today who will be that good.

glenn robinson decided to go back to school, as did mitch mcgary, marcus smart, alex poythress, gary harris, willie cauley-stein, lots of guys who i would be okay with getting... but even in the top ten this year they aren't that good.

nerlens noel is the only real superstar of the bunch. mclenmore will be somewhat a disappointment. shabazz will be a huge disappointment.  so will MCW. Zeller will be pretty good, but will play power forward as he downt have the weight to play center - at least right now. porter will be good. trey burke wont be the animal everyone's thinking he will be.

oladipo will be a beast. bennett will be a beast. len will turn out to be pretty good.

truly, there aren't enough players in the draft for one of the above to slip to us, unless something major happens... even then there just arent even enough ok players in the draft for a good one to fall to us.

i would bet that danny packages the pick with other pieces and goes after another teams big fish. maybe get rid of one or two of our shooting guards, fab melo, t-will, dj white, brandon bass...

basically the pick is better used as part of a package.
