Ridiculous. Have you watched Bass these past 20-so games? He's been our second-best player (if you don't count KG who has missed 11 of those games)

6.5 rebounds ain't enough? Sorry, but you're not getting much better than that. His jumper is consistent.

A "descent 11 or 15 rebounds a game" is totally unreasonable.

have you saw earl barron? tyson melo smith...
they hit 3's we counter, we attack inside or jump shots
we missed tyson melo smith for rebounds, tyson can give you 20 rebounds if he did his thing

Tyson's had 1 20+ rebound game in the playoffs in his career.

i can go on green pierce terry crawford running the offense,
i just want bass to stay at the middle, clogged the middle box out, help kg at center, and give us a descent 11 or 15 rebounds a game, shavlik kg bass will cover 4 and 5...a little of green for defensive purposes

i can see pierce having maybe 14-26 fg, also the rest, if tyson was playing, i want a help at PF,

If you want Bass to play center and Grab 11 to 15 rebounds per game I don't know what to tell you.  I don't think you fully understand how our team has been built.

actually this is a jump shooting team, doc love small ball, no legit 7 footer, pick n' pop players...
as the time shavlik steps on the floor...he wants to redeem the career he left going to china...

now...if stoudamaire is playing...say no to bass...if it's k-mart...i'm ok with with bass ( agree on the one posted here bass on k-mart) tyson and kg will be banging on each other... but tyson melo smith can all score and grab a descent rebounds...

if bass was inside keep hitting descent jump shoots...but tyson score all the time without no defensive help and smith and melo attacking inside...
i don't know but i like this guy shavlik he is not afraid on blocking or sacrificing his body to attacking opponents, and again, if it's lebron like on pf or carmelo, its either green or taller one who can defend, maybe double team or stick with green, now do you want bass chasing carmelo hitting some clutch shots?

wilcox can be a back-up center to me
and another one...
knicks got a good bench
kidd novak shumpert richardson and all can hit 3's
the question that runs through you mind who runs our offense as bench players...as you all wanted to happen terry being consistent of 3's etc; and stop talking while doing nothing on court...i don't know if crawford or t-will or shavlik can give us a descent scoring

look if this is your line-up
bradley
lee
pierce
bass
kg
offense and defense is there but rebounding situation (i don't think so) with 2 jump shooter on offense, bass and kg

but i got a good bench because i rely on green on offense from the bench, and a hustle play for shavlik, as i've said not sure on terry crawford and t-will on running the offense

if this is another line-up
bradley
lee
pierce
green
kg

this is also a good line-up
but my second unit is unsure...
maybe bass or terry running the offense
counter attack from kidd novak shumpert etc;

Doc lives in a world where small ball is a necessity due to the makeup of his roster. I'm not saying he never plays small ball but he generally likes to get his best players on the court.

+1

Doc was big in 2007-2008, only going small with Posey at the 4 to close out games when he wanted scoring.

Doc also went big in 2008-2009/2009-2010 and talked about how even though he used Posey at the 4 that overall those lineups had been outscored and he wanted to use it less especially with Posey gone.

Heck his primary lineup in 2010-2011 was BBD/KG to the point where he burned BBD out by playing him so much because of the lack of big men depth on the team.

I can understand wanting your best players on the court....But not at the expense of playing bass at center.

OMG ....Bass playing center is enough to give Chief a heart attack.

I need extra nerve pill myself when Doc starts using Bass as a center.  Carnage is usually more than I can bare.

Bass at center ....BRUTAL  :-[

Bass is what he is folks.  He has never been a solid rebounder.  Bass averages what 4-5 RPG a game for his career.   It's not like he can turn on a switch and become Dennis Rodman.

He's actually averaging 6.5 over our past 20-odd games. Be impressed. 6.5rpg over 20 games is impressive, considering it's Bass. He's stepping up when we need him, proving his contract wasn't so bad.

why don't we just make him lebron james while were at it?  I mean they are basically the same size.

maybe if the Celtics would pay Bass the same as LBJ ,   Brandon would play at the same level?

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I don't mind him taking jumpers, as long as it's not ill advised. He can get hot and he can drain those 15-18 footers, it will help us.

But he does need to crash the boards and be more aggressive. But the jump shots are part of his game and if it's there,  he should take it.

Bass grabbed 10 boards last game.

Thats more than I would ask for.

He played good defense too.

Brandon Bass is not the problem.

It's the rotations. You can't play Bass at Center against Tyson Chandler or K-Mart.

Chandler is clearly inured, as he played 20 minutes last game.  I don't expect him to play much more than that unless the series gets to a seventh game.

Bass is passable vs. Martin, as he's a non-factor for the Knicks on offense.  All Bass has to worry about is boxing out (which he did in Game 1).

That being said, I'd like to see Wilcox get 5-10 minutes at C.

Agreed. We need to see Wilcox in there, or maybe even 2 - 5 minutes of Shavlik.

Against the Knicks, we need someone that lives in the paint for box outs and rebounds, the Knicks shoot a lot and in turn, miss a lot of shots, we need to take advantage of that.
