Are you mocking the trade? Because if the reports were accurate, that almost happened. Not the CP3/Griffin thing but the other thing.

Eh, I find it rather unlikely that Pierce would have went to GSW while KG went to LA. Didn't really see anything happening at the deadline, and nothing really did.

I guess it could've been close, I'll never know that for sure.

Well the Pierce one likely wasn't more than kicking tires. We know for a fact (or as close as fact can be if you believe beat writers) though that the KG trade was close enough that management and the coaching staff were divided into two camps about it.

I've been on the hesitant to blow it up side, but I do like Barnes:

Feel like he's got a lot of potential with limited downside: If he doesn't live up to all his potential I still feel like he'd be a very useful rotational player.

I would have hated this deal.

The Warriors starting five would have been pretty dirty however.

One of the reasons I jumped on the Barnes bandwagon (aside from drafting him in the pick 2 draft) is because despite playing 51% of the Warriors minutes he still holds opposing 3s to a 13.2 PER. He does this without a defensive force anywhere else on the team. Bogut should fill that void, but he hasnt regained his form yet.

I want to say he's the only true starting rookie on a playoff team, but I may be wrong.

He's also the 4th and sometimes 5th option on offense, and has retained very respectable shooting numbers despite adjusting to a new role, and a new league.

Many other people have speculated that if Barnes had been on say the Bobcats, or another team that required more out of him offensively, he would've put up much more impressive numbers.

Would've been a great move for us.

And that's huge. (not to discredit the rest of the Warriors' roster)

One of the few Pierce deals I would've been excited about. I actually would've been fine with:

Pierce/Lotto protected 1st through 2015
For
Barnes/Jefferson

That's probably the first call I would've expected Danny Ainge to make if the Clippers trade had gone through.

Yeah, it basically would've become KG & Pierce for Jordan, Bledsoe, & Barnes. Adding those 3 players to Rondo, Green, Sullinger, and Bradley would've been a great foundation for the future.

Yes, but selfishly I'm very happy that KG and Pierce stayed in Green.

One of the guys that falls under never wanting pierce in another jersey. If this did happen the Warriors would have been a tough out in the playoffs.

The way Curry can shoot, Pierce and his clutch shots and championship pedigree, With Davis Lee and Bogut down low. Very scary team.

If the trade happened, it would have been a love-hate thing for me.

I would have hated the fact that Paul Pierce is not a Celtic anymore, but I'd be happy he's closer to his home town.

I would have hated that he could not retire a Celtic, but I would have loved that we have a player with a good potential.

And if Pierce got traded, no doubt KG would have been traded too.
And that would suck. KG and Pierce should retire as Celtics.

For KG and PP to retire together as Celtics there is only one thing to do, manage this off season as if 2013-14 is PP's and KG's last season and do everything you can to give them the best shot they have to win it all next year. Even if it means years of horror thereafter. The storybook ending with a title would be worth it.

that's basically what we would have had.  would have felt like a gut punch if the trades happened but we'd definitely have some decent young talent.  If Bledsoe and Barnes panned out,  Rondo and Green become trade chips to bring in a very special player possibly.

If this trade did happened. Would you guys be okay with this deal? Or still couldnt trade the captain
Very happy.

ABSOLUTE STEAL

Barnes is on his rookie contract, shown some promise, great physical tools and could develop into PP in the future. Its very rare a team would be considering giving up that kind of talent for a guy at the very end of his career.

In terms of what you could get back for Pierce thats pretty much ideal.

I would have even taken back both Biedrins and Jefferson and included Terry or Lee who would replace Jarret Jack next year when he opts out (especially if we could get Ezeli as well) or a thrown in a lottery protected first of ours.

We get Barnes and probably would still suck enough next year to get a really good player in 2014 draft and then Jefferson and Biedrins come off the books anyway. That plus Sully, Bradley, Rondo and Green and we have a great core going forward (not to mention what we could get for KG).

Glade it didn't happen.... I'm just selfish ...   Nothing against Barnes , probably would be a fair deal trade wise from what people are saying.

.   Just think Pierce should walk off the court a CELTIC  when he hangs it all up. Just want to see Pierce and KG in Green every game while I still can.

The era of no KG or Pierce will happen soon enough .  They are fan favorites, they sell alot of tickets , and I applaud
the Celtic front office for giving the fans another playoff run with these guys.
