Paul Pierce Appreciation

I thought the Captain was every bit a Captain this season.  He busted his butt all year.  He played whatever position they needed to and adapted his game accordingly.  He has slipped really nicely into the proud old veteran role - not to mention the All Time Celtic/NBA legacy role. It's been a treat to watch him develop and grow up over the years.

He is just a baller.

You can tell he just loves the game, and loves competing.  No matter what it is he needs to do, he has adapted.  A lot of people underrate that quality about him.

There hasn't been a lot of stars that, when placed with other stars, can change their game to give exactly what the team needs.

Having been only just a little too young to watch Larry Bird, I feel that I'm very lucky to have watched Paul Pierce, one of the all time Celtic greats from his rookie days through to the great veteran we see now.

I hope Rondo convinces KG to give it another go next season, because I do think Pierce and KG will hang it up at the same time, and no way do I think either of these guys are done.

he's the best and its been an honor to watch him grow and cheer for him through the good and bad times.  he will sorely be missed once he is gone and i think one of those players some people will value when he is gone

I was most impressed with how he stepped up his playmaking and rebounding to make up for losing out best playmaker and our best rebounder (by TRB%).

A treat to watch a veteran with enough versatility in his game to do that as the team required.

It has definitely been a pleasure to watch the Truth.

Watching him his rookie year, and just having that feeling "woah, this may actually be the dude that changes things around here" was awesome.  Actually getting to see it happen was even sweeter.

Peaks and valleys may line his career, but he definitely got to the top.

It's crazy how time flies.  I remember his first pro regular season game vs. Toronto.  You just knew that the talent was there and eventually he would develop into one of the better players in the league.  Such a remarkable career on and off the court.  From forming a pretty formidable tandem with 'Toine, to the creation of the new 'Big 3' back in 07-08 and eventually winning the title later that year.  Coming back from the stabbing incident, his philanthropy, etc.  Many things in life are a 2 way street.  Credit the Celtics for sticking with the guy and also for him sticking with the Celtics.

And this year we found out Paul Pierce, I think like eight different times on the road, walked into a restaurant that I was in. Well I found out he was getting information from our equipment manager. He was actually asking where I was going so he could go."
