Poor Shooter McGavin, I mean Vinny.

Who does Chris Paul want as coach?

Judging by the firing of VDN: Someone competent

Nice job coach on a franchise record winning season. Now pack your bags and get out of town!

Thats what you get with a personality like CP3 on your team......

players CONTROL the team and COACH today as much as anything........ thats why some old school coachs will never work out.

Riley can't be DIERCT coach of the HEAT ....he is a tuff  enforcer of practices /rules.....D WADE wonn't play for somebody like RILEY .....so they have the little SPOBOT character there to wet nurse the spoiled babies.

B I N G O !!!

What else.

Winning record, first Pacific Division title, clearly he did a fine job to atleast warrant another year.

PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine

No he didn't. The team fell well short of expectations.

People keep mentioning him giving Clippers their first title, or breaking a Clippers record. What does that matter? He was given twice the talent than any previous Clippers coach had, he dang well better exceed their production. If you were put in charge of a business and given twice the funding do you think an owner would be 'fine' with you bringing in slightly more revenue than in past years?

The fact is that under his watch the team has underperformed in the two seasons they've had Chris Paul, and he's looked incompetent throughout most of it. Poor clock management, poor substitution patterns, poor offensive design.

Based on the rumored split between VDN and the front office over the coach pushing to try for the KG trade, I was expecting this.  It felt like VDN was trying to go for a win-now trade that would save his job and management thinking about the future.

My favorite assessment of Vinny del Negro came via Brian Scalabrine, commenting on Kenyon Martin's alleged attempted locker room revolt with the Clippers:

Quote
Last year, he had a problem in L.A., but he was playing for Vinny Del Negro. I can understand why he would be ‘disrepectful’ in the locker room or maybe he wouldn’t do what the coach wanted him to do.

I don't think the Clippers really underperformed this year. They should have lost to Memphis with a hobbled Blake Griffin.

I do think they were right to fire him, both to make CP3 happy and because I think another coach could better develop Jordan.

According to Woj's Twitter:

I am glad that the C's ownership isn't cheap enough to ever consider signing him.  I feel bad for whatever team gets him next, assuming he gets another head coaching job.  He is the worst.

Cp3 didn't want him obviously. He's making the calls behind the scenes.
