  • Let's Go Celtics!
Why are the Pacers even bothering to offensive rebound?  I don't get it. What in the world is Hibbert doing?  Do they think those second chance points are valuable?  Doc claimed that their own stats showed that getting back and forsaking almost all attempts at offensive rebounding was more important in winning.  Pacers clearly need better statisticians.  They should start by going small, really small just like the Celtics.

Easier to go big when you have Hibbert and West.

Easier to go small when you have KG and no other rebounders.

Easier still to hate on Doc without analyzing the situation.

Pretty much. Kinda hard to go big when KG is the only quality player on the roster over 6'9"

Give us Roy Hibbert and I pretty much guarantee Doc will play him. If he's healthy.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

I do have to commend you on your analysis.  The Celtics are a small team and the Pacers have size, yes, that's true.  My criticism wasn't of just Doc though but of Ainge who assembled such a small, terrible rebounding team in the first place.

Doc did however claim that their own internal stats showed that getting back on defense is so much more important that offensive rebounding that he didn't care about it.  Maybe that's true but it just floors me that this team has gone away from what worked in 2008 when they were a dominant rebounding team.  Yes, Ainge, please sign more undersized power forwards who can't rebound at all.  Please.

well, after being eliminated in round 1, Ainge took full responsibility for not putting the right players around Rondo, KG, Paul, and Doc.

at the same time, the Knicks and their fans thought they had beaten the 2008 celtics team. The Pacers are reminding them of how much they really suck still.

Ainge should get at least 3 bigmen over 6'10 that are not allergic to boxing out and getting rebounds.

And, I hope Doc is watching Indiana and Memphis, they are getting it done with big line ups, and rebounding.

Still a glaring need.
I've been a Celtics fan for a long time, and I doubt that Danny Ainge will pull this off, but only one can hope.

Start by trading Bradley for Gortat. We have plenty of undersized 2 guards that can't shoot or dribble. Ainge could have made that deal earlier this season, and it would have made a huge difference. We would still be playing right now.

Sullinger was a rookie, and inured, and Randolph sucks

Truth. If we have both Sully and Shav, we will need a scoring big. Greg Monroe / Demarcus Cousins type big man.

When I think about the 2013 Celtics and how they much salary they committed for this past season and next, I wonder, why did they bother?  They weren't going to do squat as bad as their rebounding projected to be.  If they were going to roll out such a bad rebounding team, they shouldn't have paid out like they had championship aspirations.  You can't win if you can't rebound.

I still don't understand what Ainge was thinking when he re-signed Bass.  To me Bass represents how far the Celtics have veered from the 2008 championship team.  That team was great at rebounding and had role players like Posey and Powe who took charges.  With his terrible rebounding and unwillingness to take charges, Bass represents everything the 2008 team wasn't.

I would like to see you play Randolph 1 on 1.

He's not the greatest but he doesn't "suck" as you put it.
He is a good back up big man. Gets you rebounds gives you hustle and can score when needed.

Both Hibbert and West have had rather mediocre career stats against Boston.

Hibbert and the Pacers are 4-13 against Boston over the last 5 years, including 0-2 this season.

Of course he would crush me, I'm 5'9 with a 2 inch vertical!  But as an NBA player he sucks. He doesn't deserve a roster spot on a team that hopes to contend. That's on Ainge. He should have sent Bradley packing in a deal for Gortat or Cousins.

Btw, Doc would probably play me 40 minutes a night.
