When I think about the 2013 Celtics and how they much salary they committed for this past season and next, I wonder, why did they bother? They weren't going to do squat as bad as their rebounding projected to be. If they were going to roll out such a bad rebounding team, they shouldn't have paid out like they had championship aspirations. You can't win if you can't rebound.
I still don't understand what Ainge was thinking when he re-signed Bass. To me Bass represents how far the Celtics have veered from the 2008 championship team. That team was great at rebounding and had role players like Posey and Powe who took charges. With his terrible rebounding and unwillingness to take charges, Bass represents everything the 2008 team wasn't.
