I did call Heat in 7 against the Pacers, miraculously I was right  ;D

Calling it now- Spurs in 6

Celebrate their NBA Championship on Miami's home floor! LeBron James walk out of the arena without shaking hands as always.

This series is going to be awesome.

Spurs vs Heat is going to be like if Lennox Lewis had fought Mike Tyson while Tyson was still in his prime.

Take that to mean exactly what it means.

That you're not much of a boxing fan? ;D

Neither team fits the Tyson mold in this scenario, but I can appreciate where you're going with the analogy. TP
How isn't it accurate?  This is how a boxing fan summed up Tyson vs Lewis:

Quote
Prime or not, Tyson always loses to Lennox Lewis. Allow me to explain.

Lewis wasn't afraid. Tyson usualy beat opponents who came in the ring intimidated. The worst thing you can have before a fight is fear. As a result, many of Tyson's opponents were out before the fight even began in most cases. Lewis would never be intimidated by ANYONE, let alone someone smaller than he.

Also, keep in mind, Tyson was 5 foot 11 inches tall with a 71 inch reach. Lewis had a reach of 84 inches. He was able to keep Tyson at bay in their fight by utilizing his superior jab, and landing his right from a distance, while tying up Tyson when he tried to get inside. It would be a mismatch at any point in either man's career.

Lewis KO8 Tyson

Another fan sums it up like this:

Quote
lewis would win similar to the way he beat a past it tyson, u see lewis could box and jab and move and had the tools to frustrate tyson. Lewis power is maybe just as strong as Tyson's power. Also u have to remember tyson never beat a top class prime heavyweight. To small, could only be great for 4-5 rounds, and at his best never met anyone near the quality or size and strength of lennox lewis.

Also when lewis beat tyson, it was not a case of young prime lewis v old past it tyson. Lewis himself was past his peak and actually the elder of the 2.

I rest my case

Lewis was dominant, but boring.  Severely underrated because of how methodical he was.  He beat everyone.  SI ranks him the #10 heavyweight of all time... Tyson didn't crack the top 10.  Boxingscene has Lewis ranked #9 and Tyson #13.  Lewis was far bigger than Tyson.  Far more skilled.  Spurs are Lennox Lewis in this scenario.  Much bigger... definitely will not be afraid of the Heat... champions who have consistently won throughout their entire career... and yet boring.  Nobody likes the Spurs, because the Spurs aren't fun to watch.  Nobody liked Lewis, because Lewis wasn't fun to watch.

Meanwhile... LeBron's Heat is clearly Tyson in his prime.  Can knock anyone out.  Global superstar.  Perception of dominance.  Will scare most opponents... and yet, potentially flawed.  They struggle against bigger opponents.  THey aren't going to be able to intimidate the Lennox Spurs.

Question is... would freak-of-nature Tyson have been able to beat Lewis in his prime?  Will LeBron be able to knock out the Spurs?  We'll see.

I find it totally fitting.  Unless you were poo-pooing it, because you don't think it's fair to compare King James to lowly Mike Tyson.

In this series, I wouldn't be shocked to see the Heat completely knock out the Spurs.  I also wouldn't be shocked to see the Spurs just pick apart the Heat, overpower them with size, methodically frustrate them with constant jabs, and outclass the Heat in every way.  Lennox vs Tyson.

This game was a letdown for me. With tha way Indy played on Saturday, I thought they would have made this game competitive down to tha last minute but they folded. Hats off to Indy tho for their effort and tha way they fought in this series.

Finals time now and I have tha Spurs winning this series. They're one of tha few teams that do things right. Tony Parker will run circles around Chalmers and Cole and I don't know if Spoelstra is ready for tha greatness that is Gregg Popovich. While they needed it - I do worry about tha amount of rest they've had but tha rust (if any) won't hinder them for long. I look forward to traveling to San Antone from Houston to see tha Spurs play. Go Spurs.

Really the refs had nothing to do with last night's outcome and the only game that officiating may have effected in the series went Indy's way. I'm an NBA conspiracy theorist and even I can't say the refs helped the Heat win this series.

But that's exactly it--it's a lazy comparison. Tyson was a force, yes, and Lewis was more technical, but specifically on the Tyson-Heat end of it Tyson was scary in a way that the Heat never are going to be. He wasn't redefining the way to box the way the Heat have been adjusting basketball, with their fully-realized smallball game and spacing, he was just coming at you with a supreme amount of force, fury, and will. Simply put, LeBron & Co. are having too much fun to elicit a truly meaningful Tyson comparison.

Some of that is the difference in sport, sure, but there are certainly players who play/have played with a Tysonian edge and anger. None of them are on the Heat.

Like I said, I can see where you're going with it, and it's not too far off, it's just lazy.

Tyson playing angry = LeBron throwing powder in the air.  Tyson was never as dominant at boxing as LeBron James is at the game of basketball.  I think it's a fair comparison.  :)

Not surprised that ESPN are all selecting the Miami Heat to win it all.

Sellout player for a "sellout" game (game stopped caring about true basketball fans after 2k11).
