Why not make Granger your 6th man? They are unlikely to get equal value in a trade. They need to keep West and sign a legit pg. They should pick up Udrih.

I really love that in the NBA, the best of the best always makes it to the big dance.  You don't get stuck with Memphis vs Atlanta... You get champion vs champion.   If you have a superstar and a solid supporting cast, few teams can stop you.  I love that the integrity and the quality of the game remains unsullied by underdog Cinderella teams and parity.   In the NBA, you always know who is king.  I love that.

Eh . . . I have no problem with underdogs or there being parity, so long as it doesn't come at the expense of good play.

In March Madness, there's "parity" because it's so random with everything being single elimination.

If a team like the Pacers goes on a nice run in the post-season to get to the Finals, or even a title, that's exciting, especially if it comes at the expense of superteams like the Heat.

But you're right that in the NBA, you can be pretty sure the best team won 99% of the time.

I do think the league could take some steps to make things more even.  I don't agree that having most of the top talent concentrated in 5-10 teams is good for the league.

I like it.  I like the fact there are eras.  Russell era, bird/magic era, Jordan era, shaq/Duncan era... And now the lebron era.  I love it.  It would have been lame if Denver randomly upset Jordan back in the day and won a fluke championship.   Thankfully, it doesn't happen.  You might get a big underdog like Boston last year take Miami to 7... Or you might see Atlanta take Boston to 7 in 2008, but we know who is winning.   The best of the best make it to the big dance.

I really hope the finals will be good. This ending is a bit of a letdown.

yea, hopefully the Heat can win a game or two and make a series out of it before the Spurs beat them down.

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
Gotta give credit where it's due: Miami addressed their issues, came out tonight, and CRASHED the boards hard.

Go Spurs.

We all knew Mia was the better team all along, why they like to put themselves in a corner I'll never understand.

Next year, we're gonna beat the Pacers in the ECF. Count on it.

I don't think the NBA made it a 7 game series for money, if that's what you mean.

See, to me, my favorite NBA champions are like the Mavs in 2011, the Celtics in 2008, or the Pistons in 2004.  I'd be happy if every year you had another team that came together at just the right time and figured out how to play together and you had that one star who's been fighting to break through for a while who has the playoffs of his career on the way to a title.  I'd take that every year over the super team winning.

If I had spent my late teens and early 20s in the 90s, I probably wouldn't have been an NBA fan.  Seeing the same team win practically every year, or the same two teams alternate from one year to another, is only fun if you're a super casual fan, or if the team with the super-duper-star is your own.

To me the absolute worst thing that could happen to the game would be seeing LeBron win 5 out of the next 9 or 10 championships.

everything I predicted happened , game was over before half time, heat play their best at home and don't lose two in row .   all the guys I figured would show up for the heat when it counted, same as last year .

Spurs an Parker don't fall apart  under pressure as easy .

Spurs got this.

This series is going to be awesome.

Spurs vs Heat is going to be like if Lennox Lewis had fought Mike Tyson while Tyson was still in his prime.

Take that to mean exactly what it means.

That you're not much of a boxing fan? ;D

Neither team fits the Tyson mold in this scenario, but I can appreciate where you're going with the analogy. TP
