I feel like I should be more excited than I am. For the past 8 years I have made the best attempt that I could to watch every single regular season game, I loved doing it and looked forward to it...
This year I've completely lost that. Ever since the Suns game on Feb 21st where Jeff Green had his first 30 point game of the year, I have hardly had any urge to watch.
I am confident that we will do really well in the playoffs, I just dont think this team is exciting anymore, therefore might not be tuning into to every game religiously. Then again it is the playoffs.
I'm with you man. I didn't have cable in my apartment for the first time this year and instead got NBA league pass, expecting to watch pretty much every Celtics game.
With the team playing like dog doo for the first few months, that wasn't really happening, and then all the injuries happened. I don't know if I ended up watching even half of the Celtics games this season in full. A lot of them I watched part or just watched highlights.
The team, for the most part, was simply not fun or exciting this season. Even when Rondo was frustrating because he was inconsistent, he was exciting because you knew in any given game he could blow up for a triple double performance. The team had much less of that "big game potential" this season. The best we could hope for was a Green scoring performance (which often came in a loss) or a throwback Pierce or KG performance (which became rarer and rarer as the season went on).
The Celtics are a team built for playoff basketball. They're not meant to be exciting. Which is fine -- but because they lost two really important players halfway through the season, their playoff potential is pretty much stunted. So we're left with a mediocre team that isn't much fun to watch.
