If the C's don't flip the switch this Saturday, it's gonna be a looong series.

So you think even if the Celtics continue to play poorly we'll still take the Knicks to 6 or 7 games? I like your optimism. ;)

if we continue playing poorly which i have seen no evidence to the contrary it will be knicks in 5!

I agree, If the celtics play bad they will lose.

duh. if any team plays poorly they lose lol.
idk...i hear what LarBird is saying about March 18th and I agree to extent. And maybe that's just the reason why.

I'm not sure. I want to believe you all that they'll flip a switch but you also have to understand the starters played together like twice and there's no telling who's in the rotation.

Maybe it's not just my lack of excitement but me trying to detach myself so I don't get upset. I'll probably be fine after the first game lol.

That was my point, I was being sarcastic.

I think the team is going to come to play against New York.  I'm excited for yet another playoff upset by this team.

I'm excited for a bunch of the matchups that we're likely to see.  I think the Western Conference playoffs are going to be very fun to watch, and even in the East I think non-consequential matchups could be fun to watch.

I'm bummed that the Spurs are so beat up right now, though.  They're very good for large stretches of the season each of the past few years but they just can't have everything clicking when it matters, it seems.

I feel like I should be more excited than I am. For the past 8 years I have made the best attempt that I could to watch every single regular season game, I loved doing it and looked forward to it...

This year I've completely lost that. Ever since the Suns game on Feb 21st where Jeff Green had his first 30 point game of the year, I have hardly had any urge to watch.

I am confident that we will do really well in the playoffs, I just dont think this team is exciting anymore, therefore might not be tuning into to every game religiously. Then again it is the playoffs.

I am excited ... for really the first time since Rondo went down.
Yeah, since the C's lost that game versus the Heat during the winning streak I haven't been as locked in this season.

It'll be good to be intense about some games again.

I'm nervous and hopeful, but with Rondo down I don't have the same confidence level with the team right now.

New York is who I wanted in the first though, so Saturday is going to be intense.

I'm with you man.  I didn't have cable in my apartment for the first time this year and instead got NBA league pass, expecting to watch pretty much every Celtics game.

With the team playing like dog doo for the first few months, that wasn't really happening, and then all the injuries happened.  I don't know if I ended up watching even half of the Celtics games this season in full.  A lot of them I watched part or just watched highlights.

The team, for the most part, was simply not fun or exciting this season.  Even when Rondo was frustrating because he was inconsistent, he was exciting because you knew in any given game he could blow up for a triple double performance.  The team had much less of that "big game potential" this season.  The best we could hope for was a Green scoring performance (which often came in a loss) or a throwback Pierce or KG performance (which became rarer and rarer as the season went on).

The Celtics are a team built for playoff basketball.   They're not meant to be exciting.  Which is fine -- but because they lost two really important players halfway through the season, their playoff potential is pretty much stunted.  So we're left with a mediocre team that isn't much fun to watch.

I anticipate the C's will actually make an effort now but the question is, will it make a difference?

NY has been getting their act together while the C's have basically been mailing it in for a while.

With so many new faces to the team this year, especially new to this whole 'flip the switch' nonsense, I would have hoped to have seen this team play with a purpose down the stretch to get everyone in sync going into the playoffs.

If they win even 2 games against the Knicks, I'd be amazed.  I think they'll try but other than expecting a higher level of play from KG and PP, I have no reason to expect better from the rest of the team in the playoffs.

Yeah, I think this is what a lot of people are missing.

Even if Pierce and KG play 35+ minutes a night and return to All-Star form, that won't be enough if the supporting cast doesn't step up.  I can see Terry maybe improving, but I'm not sure how much we really ought to expect from Bradley, Lee, Green, Crawford, and the China-Trio.

Hey OP, if you are not excited, then don't be. Why unnecessarily create a thread and try to get some attention for it?

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I'm super excited to see what Jeff Green can do.
He'll be so pumped, I hope he can control the nerves and excitement.
This is where he was dreaming of being 12 months ago and it seems like he's done so much in such a short time.

*Green's got something to prove
*Terry's got something to prove
*Crawford's never been to the playoffs ( I think?)

I'm envisioning Green going for 30/10/5 in game one and us taking away HCA. Then going to RealGM and reminding Knicks fans how they said they'd win 4-0.
Gonna be great :)
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
