I'm not from Boston, but being so attached to this team makes me feel like this is my city too. Yesterday's events was too horrible to even fathom, but the thing that's shining through is Boston's spirit.

I can't predict the results of the playoffs, but I expect the C's to show up and show out for the city of Boston. They may or may not get banner 18, but they will fight and put this city on their back!

I agree. I hope the Celts do well but even if they don't, a tragedy like this really puts everything into perspective.

I feel this might be a big time motivation in disguise for this team.

I really do expect this event to give a HUGE motivation to KG and Pierce and enough for Terry to go all out in the playoffs.

This is no longer a playoff to bring a banner to this organization, but it is now a fight to bring a banner to the city of Boston and give even the most little bit of happiness to those who have been affected.

I really hope that what I think becomes true and these playoffs become a fight for one purpose: To heal Boston.

I'm from Mississippi and when Hurricane Katrina hit it hit our area really bad. I'm a Saints fan and when they won that Super Bowl it really felt like it was for the city.

I don't think they will go all the way but I won't let that stop me from enjoying these playoffs and rooting for the celtics every step of the way!

I do think this tragedy will provide motivation -- but truthfully these guys get motivated for the playoffs regardless.   It did cross my mind that this might be the type of circumstance that would get KG to say "one more year" and put his heart and soul into next season.  If he were anyone else I wouldn't make such a speculative comment, but he seems to feel things at such a deep level that something like this could change things for him.  Not sure he is considering retirement anyway, but if he is I think this event may influence his thinking.

My exact thoughts. They're already the underdog, but now this just gives more and more incentive to just enjoy the playoffs and what this team can do.

If the Celtics have to use this tragedy to motivate themselves, then things are already lost. In the past, this team got up for the playoffs because it was the playoffs. They shouldn't need yesterday's events to get the juices flowing.

Sometimes events like these can bring that motivation to another level that never previously existed.

It's not about "needing" a tragedy to happen, because I'm quite sure they've been preparing and had no idea what was going to transpire. All I'm saying is that sometimes events like these give different meaning and motivation. As a Saints fan, after they won the Super Bowl, after Katrina, it gave a different feeling to city and the championship.

For the city! Just like Ware and Ray Lewis, eh. Always a storyline.

Meh.

Beyond the opening moment of silence in Boston, I doubt this tragedy is thought about by the players in the least bit beyond that. I just don't see this motivating this team that much.

I will agree to disagree with those that think this will give the Celtics players any extra motivation or energy to do anything. I just think their normal playoff motivation is all they will need or have after that opening moment of silence.

I really don't know if that's a sarcastic comment, but Ware and Lewis situation is nowhere near similar to what a Championship meant to a ravished city ..sorry don't get what you were trying to say.

Yeah we'll disagree and leave it at that.
