Monta Ellis this season.

19.3 points
6.2 assists
3.9 rebounds
2.1 steals

All-Star on a good team. When he opts out, he'll be a great pickup for anyone... he's quite underrated. I want to see him wreck havoc on Wade this postseason. And he's not even injury prone! He's played 80 games already, this season.

Monta is very, very underrated by most NBA fans. He needs an All-Star game sometime soon, he really deserves one.

I wish we could pick him up, but I guess we'll have to make do with Jeff

Inefficient shooter most seasons.  Under .500 TS% and under .450 eFG% for the last two years.

Inefficient, turnover-prone, ball-dominant and an inconsistent defender at best.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I totally agree that he is underrated. He is pretty much the posterboy of a good player on a bad team. He has always been a superior scorer. He has been a solid assist and steal guy, as well, and this year the Bucks made the playoffs [because of him and Jennings]. He isn't a superstar, but he deserves more respect than he actually gets.

I don't really care about his steals.  He's still a bad defender.  That shouldn't be the case with his quickness and athleticism, but it is.

He's not clutch, either.  In fact, he shoots almost the same percentage in clutch situations as he does overall.  He's a better three-point shooter and turns the ball over less in crunch time, but he counters that by becoming a black hole who never passes (13 assists in 164 minutes).  Certainly undeserving of the clutch label.

He is an inefficient combo guard who dominates the ball and doesn't play defense.  It's hard to fit that kind of player into a winning basketball team.  If he could be coerced into guarding somebody then I think he could really help a team (Orlando comes immediately to mind as a team that could benefit from a scoring PG).  But as it is, he's too limited and too undisciplined.

He's also the guy that nobody wants in the CB drafts. That's saying something.

One of the more overrated players in the league, if you ask me.

I hate his game.

Yeah Jordan Crawford type that got the minutes to put up the raw stats.

If Crawford played as many minutes as Ellis, he'd be pretty much the same player.

That's an insult to Monta, imo. Monta can (and should) be an All-Star, Crawford is nowhere near that.
