The Lakers believe that Kobe Bryant suffered a torn left Achilles in Friday's game against the Warriors.
The team will conduct an MRI to confirm the diagnosis, but revealing that information so soon doesn't bode well for Bryant. Kobe said he felt his Achilles tear and there was "nothing there," then limped back to the locker room under his own power. This could be a horrible way to end his season and he went down fighting hard all the way to the bitter end after sustaining injuries to both of his knees during this game, as well. The Black Mamba was crying while talking to reporters and he put his heart and soul into this tumultuous season for the Lakers. Jodie Meeks would likely start in Kobe's place for the rest of the season.

I hate KoMe, I really do BUT even I didn't want him to go down. I wanted them humiliated this season and to have Howard leave! I don't wish injuries on anyone.

Not a good look for injuries these days, everyone dropping like flies... what's the most players in one season to go down from season ending injuries?
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Kobe Bryant, selfish, egotistical, terrible person, but the absolute warrior of his generation. Nobody gives more to basketball than Kobe Bryant, dislike the guy, hate the laundry, love the player..if that makes any sense.

I hate the Lakers and detest Kobe at times, but I will never wish an injury on him.
I hope he's okay.

Also, there is a video posted tonight on NBA.com, it's called 'Breakin Ankles', not what you think.

They said Metta World Peace would be out for the remainder of season with a torn meniscus.

He came back two weeks after the injury (and surgery). There's a reason why they're called the Fakers lol.

Won't be surprised if Kobe is a game time decision on Sunday against the Spurs though!

#1 Kobe hater and Laker hater here, but I am not an ostritch. What Kobe Bryant has done this season is sensational. He is a warrior. He is the clutchest player in the NBA, period, no question. I watched part of the game tonight, and like most Laker games that I try to watch Kobe made me turn away because of the clutch plays he made.

I just learned that the Lakers won, and I saw the Kobe injury and tearful interview on the local news (I live in SoCal), I felt for him. Do not wish injury on anyone. I salute Kobe and the warrior spirit he has used to will this Laker team towards the playoffs this season. I hope he has a full recovery from his injury. I always thought Kobe was a fake, but I am now convinced that he has truly changed and what he showed this year was real. The man is truly driven by a need to win. I cannot hate a true warrior. Get well soon Kobe.

Blame D'Antoni.

He wore him into the ground. He played every minute of the last two games.

I know they are desperate to make the playoffs but you can't run a guy with that much mileage out there like that this late in the season.

This.  Hate the team, dislike the man, but respect the hell out of the player.
