Hate to trade Green for Cousins ,  but .....

I would do it.....he is lottery level talent big, and since the Celtics aren't the Lakers when it comes to getting who ever ,when ever they want to fit a spot on their team,  and C's  aren't going to tank ......Cousins or possibly a discontented K. Love are the only prospects,  faint hope, I see coming to the Celtics .

AV might be a stopgap , if PP and Garnet play next year.

Celtics are gonna be  mega screwed when KG leaves  ......might be a lottery team anyway.

That's great. Let's also trade Courtney Lee and filler for James Harden, and we'll be unstoppable!

Makes me wonder if his playoffs were good enough whether or not you could package Green and Bradley for Demarcus Cousins.
Move forward with Rondo, Cousins and Sullinger as a core.

If the Kings were willing to do a deal like this, I'd jump all over it.  Probably even throw in a 1st to make it happen.
I'd jump all over it too. I'd include a first, Melo, Crawford, anyone not named Rondo, Sully, Garnett or Pierce (I'd include Sully if he was a substitute for Bradley).

Earlier this year it was heavily rumored that we were making a push for Cousins, but we balked at including Avery. I love AB and everything he brings to the table, but I just think that its so much harder to find a star talent big than any kind of guard.

Jeff Green is the guy I would be shopping the hardest this summer.

You can't find an upgrade for Pierce or Garnett by trading them. Too old. Rondo injured. Probably can't upgrade him either. Jeff Green looks the best bet to bring back a talented player in exchange.

It would be great if Danny could get a big man for J.Green.

I'm not sure on Rondo not having full value. I could see a team like the Kings/Sonics looking to bring some interest to the team trading for Rondo. Great point guard, still has a ton of potential, and sells jerseys/tickets.

I don't see us trading Green unless it is part of package we offer to get an elite player (which I don't think happens)
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I'm definitely willing to trade Green for a big as long as it doesn't compromise our future. However, trading Green to the Lakers helps them more than it does us IMO.  Green would fit too well with Howard, a lot like Lewis, moving forward. Pairing Green with Howard is something I'd rather not do.

I think there is also something to be said for the value of an injured Rondo going to a team like the Kings/Sonics. Rondo probably doesn't come back at the start of next season and its a great year to be at the bottom of the standings with such an outstanding draft class. A team like the Kings could move some problem assets (Cousins/Evans) for their building block of the future in a guy like Rondo, build excitement around the team, sell jerseys, and still suck enough to be at the top of the 2014 draft with a chance at Wiggins/Parker.

They let this year's lottery pick develop with solid minutes on a bad team with young talent, Rondo comes back healthy at some point next season (they tell him to D-Rose it and not rush coming back) and they still can get another future star in the next draft.

And I'd say its safe to say Rondo is coming back 100% given that its only a partial tear (nothing like Rose's complete blowout) and the amount of time he has had to rehab it.

Anyone who watches NBA basketball understands the age or era of big men are over.

The league is all about athletic wings and flashy point guards.

Pretty much all the great PFs are all done too or winding down their careers or playing Center.

I would really like to see that and what those results would be.

Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge, Chris Bosh, DeMarcus Cousins, Greg Monroe, Josh Smith, David Lee, Serge Ibaka, Al Horford, David West, Amare Stoudemire, Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, Andrea Bargnani, Nene Hilario, Brook Lopez, Dwight Howard, Roy Hibbert, Nikola Pekovic, Pau Gasol, Tyson Chandler, Andrew Bynum, up and coming guys like Kenneth Faried, Andre Drummond, Anthony Davis, Jared Sullinger, Nic Vucevic, Larry Sanders, the "winding down" Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan (have you seen his numbers?) and Dirk Nowitzki... would beg to differ.

Bargnani? D:

If im DA the only way im trading Green is for a legit starting Center who is Rondo's age or younger.

If you look around the NBA the two toughest positions to fill are..

1. Starting Center, there are very few starting caliber centers in todays NBA.

2. big Athletic SFs, there are a handful of truly elite athletes with true SF skills and legit SF/PF size. Lebron, Gay, Durant, George, Green, Melo
Mavs
Wiz

There are a ton of SFs.  It doesn't compare to the lack of quality big men.

Lebron

Pierce
Deng
George
Gay
Parsons
Leonard
Batum
Green
Gallinari

Smith
T. Young
Prince
H. Barnes
Kidd-Gilchrist
Aminu
T. Harris
Granger

That's a bunch of quality SFs.

My point wasn't that there art good SFs in the NBA its that SF with stretch 4 size, solid SF skill sets, and elite athleticism are harder to come by than PGs, SGs, and Pfs. This is becoming a important position in today's small ball nba.

Lebron x
Durant x
Melo   x
Pierce
Deng   x (? on athleticism)
George x
Gay    x
Parsons
Leonard x
Batum x
Green x
Gallinari - athleticism
Iguodala  - (size makes him boarder line)
Smith     - Pf skill set
T. Young  - Pf skill set
Prince    - athleticism (used to have it)
H. Barnes x
Kidd-Gilchrist - (boarder line on size)
Aminu     - Pf skill set
T. Harris x
Granger   x (if healthy)

That makes 12 -14 player in the whole NBA

If the starting caliber centers (who are not PFs playing center) are..

Howard
Jefferson
M Gasol
Monroe
Vucevic
B Lopez
Cousins
Noah
Asik
Hibbert
Chandler
Okafor
Pekovic

(this is a very debatable list)
but my point is Jeff Green plays a hard to fill position. Center is more valuable but big SF is second, and PG is third.

The current NBA doesn't conform very well to the traditional 5,4,3,2,1 basketball positions. The small balling of the league has lead to the prevalence of 6'2 SG/PGs, 6'5 SF/SGs,, 6'7 PF/SFs and long athletic c/pfs.
