  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Playoffs start in 10 days...it's about to get serious. It's looking like us vs New York.
Knicks hit 15 of 24 threes against the Wizards last night. They're simply on fire. I mean they're shooting better than the Heat were last season when they took us out.

How will the Knicks guard our starting five of:

Avery
Pierce
Green
Bass
KG

Avery guarded by Felton?
Pierce guarded by Shumpert?
Green guarded by Prigioni?
Bass guarded by Melo?
KG guarded by Chandler?

Or do they start K Mart/Copeland in place of one of the guards?
This will be hard for them because we'll force to go undersized to keep their smallball line up and give up size, or take them away from the smallball lineup...

What's their starting unit against us in a 7 game series?
I'm thinking that Woodson puts Copeland into the starting unit and gambles with him on Green... Perhaps Woody tries to get us to react to their three point shooting but Doc will probably try and make them play out of their comfort zone. The coaching is going to be very strategic all series.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

To be honest, I'd rather see us match up small against them with a starting lineup of Bradley, Lee, Pierce, Green, Garnett in a series against the Knicks.

If we end up facing Indiana, Chicago, or Brooklyn, then I'd go with the big starting lineup of Bradley, Pierce, Green, Bass, Garnett.

I know that conventional wisdom has always said that you force other teams to match up with you as opposed to the other way around, but one of the things that I like about our team headed into the playoffs is that I think we have a lot of versatility on our roster.  Jeff Green gives us that versatility to be able to go either small or big and match up with anybody.

Doc has gotten a lot of flak this year.  Our record says that much of it is deserved, but I also feel like he has treated much of this regular season as an extended pre-season, and he's got the team in a good spot headed into the playoffs.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

The Knicks look to be on fire right now. I'm not looking forward to facing them in Round 1....
But it should be a good matchup, and if we are going to get bounced, may as well get bounced early. I just wish that the Knicks and Heat were playing each other in Round 1.

Do the knicks really look that good or do they look extremely streaky in a good way right now? I don't know theybwere on fire early in the season then fell off now on fire again.

I think they'd quickly go to JR Smith, and I don't think the Knicks have that hard of a time with the size. You'll have a size advantage for sure, but do you feel that confident running your offense through Jeff Green in the post? Does the size make up for Green's limitations there?

x2

I like the matchup of Shumpert + Melo vs Paul + Green. Melo isnt a great defender and shumpert is to small to match up with either player.

my thoughts exactly scared of those barrage of shooters who put points up in a hurry

I really don't like our chances vs the Knicks. It's funny, up until a couple weeks ago, I actually thought the Celts matched up well with them.

No, not so much. After having seen them twice, a couple weeks ago, it looks like they are starting to get it.

Mike Woodson has coached them the right way as guys like JR Smith are becoming better players. Plus they have great shooters with Melo, Shumpert, Felton and Novak and lots of size with Chandler, KMart and Amar'e.

Other than KG, Pierce (who likely aren't 100 percent) and Jeff Green, I just don't see anyone giving the Knicks difficulty.

Hate to say, but Knicks win in 5 or 6. I hope I am wrong (and usually am if that's a consolation, lol.)

Carmelo and Tyson is enough for the Knicks to have a decided advantage, not to mention a superior bench scorer in JR Smith (compared to Terry), and not one but two veteran point guards who can reliably run the offense (the Celtics have none).
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

This is going to be a closer series than that. The C's, whatever form they've been in, have always given the Knicks fits. I see this series going to 6 or 7, with a 50/50 shot to advance for either team.

Also, if the C's do get past the first round, expect players like JG, CL, etc. to play with more confidence. Those guys have barely touched the playoffs, and winning does wonders to players' confidence.
