apparently he wants to be an agent for NBA players and thus can't own part of any NBA team.  Seems like an odd move, but when you have that kind of money I guess it doesn't really matter.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I think partial ownership of the Nets seems a lot less exciting since LeBron didn't end up joining the team.

I'd wager a guess that the potential earnings from his new agency are greater than the earnings he receives from his minority share of the Nets.

Yeah, they really overplayed his role in the ownership - apparently he owns 1/15 of 1% of the team, which is worth about $350k.  I was under the impression he had a lot more invested in it.

Cano signing with Jay - Z was the first domino. J wants to represent NBA players and has to sell his ownership in order to do so.

I wonder if this is enough though - while he doesn't have a ton of money directly invested in the Nets I was under the impression that he receives a large percentage of the sales from all luxury seats sold

Some might debate about him being the greatest rapper alive, but you can't debate he's the most successful rapper alive.

He's definitely the most successful, but I don't think he's the best "alive".  I still think Snoop and Busta Rhymes are better rappers.  He's old school and I haven't heard much from him in years, but Rakim of Eric B and Rakim is also a better rapper.

Nets' ownership and Jay Z both got a lot from their association.  The Nets got a successful rebranding as they took root in Brooklyn, and Jay Z got a lot of cachet in the sports world.  As an icon both in hip hop and as a minority businessman, he's going to at least get his foot in the foot with a ton of prospects in different sports.

I see him building a huge sports and entertainment agency.  Smart move. Maybe in a half decade, he'll sell the agency and buy his own NBA franchise.
