Shav is doing what it takes ,  kissing Doc's behind and doing the constant dirty work on the court like Sully did   to "EARN" playing time.

Shav , is first off the bench to give encouragement to teammates ,   doesn't seem to whine too much .

Doc is a HARD CASE when it come to new players ,  its nothing short of miracle Sully was allowed to develop so fast.

Shav is flat just OUT PLAYING Wilcox at this point , Wilcox doesn't box out,  doesn't take charges,  and is not scoring much ..... other words .....Wilcox needs to sit behind Shav.

Another good game from him - I like it!

I hope he keeps it up.

His added effort, as a Big, could play HUGE dividends for us this post-season.

Shav's doing a great job down low. Didn't expect him to be so strong on the boards since he doesn't have such a bulky frame, but I've been pleasantly surprised. He takes high percentage shots and is knocking them down and isn't a liability at the FT line.

Defensively I think he could definitely use work. He just seems a little late on his rotations and he is having trouble staying away from fouls. He needs to settle for influencing shots near the basket rather than going for the actual block and getting called for the foul. A good number of the legitimate fouls he has gotten called for were on shots that might not have gone in if he had just gone straight up and not made the other guy adjust his shot.

You can complain all you want about him getting some bullEdited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. calls, which he does, but that is commonplace around the league. Rookies and new guys always need to "earn" their place before they start getting no calls.

Yes its stupid, but thats just the way it is and Randolph needs to realize that and play accordingly. Its hard for Doc to imagine giving him any more time when he fouls at a pretty fast rate.

If he can stay on the court I think he can be a really useful role player in certain games. I don't see him having an impact in every game, but given certain match-ups etc. he could be useful.

When KG comes back, and if Bass continues to start, I'd like to see Shav be the 1st big off the bench.  Heck, I might be inclined to have him be the 1st player off the bench, just because I don't like Bass at center.

KG is almost always the 1st player subbed for.  If we bring in Lee at that point, and slide Green to PF, it moves Bass to center.  I'd rather wait until Pierce comes out and then sub in Lee/Terry.

The other alternative, would be to sub out KG and Bass simultaneously, and bring in Shav and Lee.  That way when KG is ready to come back in, he just subs for Shav. When Pierce is ready to come out, Bass replaces him, moving Green back to SF.

He also fouled 6 times, gotta be able to stay on the court. Plus those fouls = ftas = points for the Cavs.

Hopefully he figures it out.

I'd put half of those fouls on the officials and it was the first time he has fouled out in his NBA career.  Will he have to hold back from taking charges in order to avoid fouling out?  Possibly, given how much they seem to need him, but it's good to see him not afraid to mix it up.

Agreed, a couple of those fouls called on Shav where cheapies.

But right now, Randolph is not going to get the benefit of the doubt, just like Sully didn't when he was playing earlier in the season.

Randolph reminds me of a Kevin McHale....a 35 year old McHale, but that's still pretty good for us considering how rare our bigs are.

Randolph has guts. He is just like sully the way he battles you.  I enjoy watching him try to outbattle two opposing big guys on both ends of the court. Elbows flying everywhere and 50 percent of the time he does pull down the ball

If he keeps going, definitely he will be resigned next year as front court depth

Anyone know what happened to DJ White??

Great hustle by him. I wish the refs would have let him play a bit more

How well does Randolph have to play before people start wondering if Shavlik could start ahead of Sullinger and Bass next season?

His main drawback is his footspeed, he can't shuffle his feet fast enough; he seems half a step behind 80 percent of the time but he muscles through it and makes it work. Unfortunately that's where a lot of the fouls done from. He has quicker mobility he'd be a very very good player instead of the borderline role player he is now.
Practice? Whatchu talkin about practice?

Sullinger was definitely playing better than Randolph, period.

Bass plays better D but Randolph boards and scores inside.

That's what I think.

Doesn't play defense like Doc wants him to. Shavlik may not be a great defender but he knows the rotations it seems.

nice points. His body looks like fudge.  He needs to workout alot harder.
