asik is a joke.
10/11/1 says your wrong. Asik would probably be a perfect fit for the C's. Big body rebounds extremely well. rondo passing when he is open/ pick and role. Id pay 8 mil a year to someone that is gonna give you 10 points and 10 boards a night that clogs up the interior
Yeah if Asik is a joke, so are Noah, Tyson Chandler, and everything Hasheem Thabeet was supposed to be, not who he is...who he's SUPPOSED to be.
asik doesnt have an "edge" like chandler does. I want a player with an edge, not a soft euro guy
Asik is a euro guy. He is the opposite of soft. He plays with an edge all the time. That being said, he comes with a huge price tag. That is the only reason any team would hesitate to add him.
Why is Asik's price tag huge?
He gets paid less money than Jeff Green over the same amount of years and the guy is averaging 2 points a game less than Green, 8 rebounds more per game than Green and has very similar blocks and steals than does Green. they are both the same age. Is Jeff Green's contract a huge price tag?
And as I said, given his stats, he's getting paid what a ton of similar players with similar stats are getting paid. Its not a huge price tag. Its pretty much at market value given his skill set.
1. Houston plays at a completely different pace than the Celtics. They average over a 100 ppg. scoring 10 in Houston is a LOT different than scoring 10 with the Celtics.
2. Asik is a starter in Houston and plays 30 mpg. Jeff Green comes of the bench and plays less minutes in Boston. As a starter Jeff is averaging 20ppg.
3. Asik has no offense. All his points are in transition and put backs. Jeff Green is a complete, two way player.
4. Asik can only play one position in the NBA. A position that has very few dominant players. Jeff Green is extremely versatile and most dominant players in the league are big guards and forwards. Defensively a guy that can cover Lebron, Melo, Durant, Kobe, Bosh, Boozer etc. is more valuable than one that can cover centers in a league where no center averages close to 20ppg.
5. Asik is developing, meaning he can have tons of minutes in the youngest team in the league. In Boston, he would be hard pressed to find minutes as he has averages a lot of fouls, turnovers and is a very poor free throw shooter. Jeff Green has none of these flaws.
He's certainly overpaid. Chicago chose not to match his contract because they estimated he wasn't worth the cost. It's also not fair to compare his stats to a guy on his first year off heart surgery. Compare their career stats to see the difference in their values.
