Never really saw the acquisition of White as being a move to replace Bass. Interesting thought considering how similar they are.

Bass has been a bit of an albatross this season.

Don't know if Bass would fetch much, though. Forcing a trade is likely just going to water down talent.

Regardless, Bass's recent play is very promising and I wouldn't mind keeping him as long as we have Sully in front.

Bass is a bench player who Doc uses as a starter. The team would be better off if he is traded.

If Bass is a bench player, who would be your generic starting PF?

Boston lacks a starting big outside of KG.  Nobody else on their roster is a starting-level talent at the PF position.

Trading Bass won't make that situation any better.

Since when has Bass ever been a cornerstone of our team? Regardless, if Bass is traded it'll probably be alongside other parts and/or picks in order to upgrade at his position. Don't see us trading Bass for a 1, 2, or 3 with the logjam we have at those spots already. So to answer your question, yes, we'll be okay.

I doubt White is on our roster next year and this draft will have some bigs in the mid-teens that could contribute immediately (Olynyk, Plumblee, etc.). So we could conceivably draft Olynyk or Plumblee, have Sullinger back, use the MLE on a serviceable big man, and upgrade the Bass position in a supposed Bass + parts off-season trade.

Bass is getting so underrated. Tell me when Shavlik or DJ get offered 6mil/yr for 4 years. Yeah, I don't think so.

Sullinger's a starting-level talent if he plays as well as he did in January next season.

Not if he keeps fouling at an incredible rate.
