People should be appreciating this era, because the one following it ain't going to be pretty, barring Danny pulling off mega-trades (ala KG and Ray).

I hope it doesn't come to any of that, but this kind of stuff is always nastier in foresight than hindsight.  If the season does end not with a bang but a whimper, we'll all be angry/sad for a day or two, then life goes on.

I'll go through the three stages of my own celtics grieving (anger, annoyance, apathy), then I'll go into the same pre-postseason holding pattern I always do until they inevitably win the first series, which consists of outward pessimism, and inward unreasonable optimism...like the feeling you get when buy a lottery ticket right before you scratch it off.

Then they'll win their first series, and I'll go straight to hopeless optimism, until they lose a couple of games in their second series, and I'll be a mix of fury and resilient optimism. Then they'll win their second series, and optimism will return.

Rinse and repeat until they either get knocked out or win a championship.

I am excited about the assets DA has put together.

Rondo and Green look like two nice players entering their prime. I think Rondo can eventually be the 2nd best player on a title team. Right now I see Green as a 4th but hopefully as he continues to improve from surgery he could become a third and a guy who flirts with averaging 20 ppg a night playing with Rondo. Both on good contracts.

I like the following young assets/talent we have with Bradley and Sully. I like Crawford. Maybe even Fab will turn into something. I like Lee as a solid role player on a solid contract. Our draft pick this year could be right after the lottery and DA does well with those.

I just named 7 players. After next year Terry and Bass become expiring.

Pierce's contract is very nicely structured too. If KG retires and pushes us below the tax then I can see us revisiting Smith (or someone else) in a S+T to Boston, Pierce to Dallas, and pieces to Atlanta (or the S+T team).

I believe we will continue to be a playoff team.

I don't think if KG retires we actually go below the salary cap. Pierce would need to be traded.
