the only rival player I have ever respected is Jerry West - Kobe is a complete Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. (treats his teammates like inferior servants and pretends that rivalries don't mean anything unless he manages to win). Lebron is an ego-maniac with weak character.

LeBron.

As other posters have mentioned, he seems like a better teammate and an overall a better person in general, from what we see of him in the media.  He seems like a very humble guy at times and I would bet that if you walked up to him in public asking for an autograph, you'd probably have a better chance of scoring one from him than Kobe...Just my opinion.  I have respect for Kobe's talent, but there's just something about his personality, as it is portrayed in the media, that rubs me the wrong way.  I actually kind of like LeBron, I won't lie.

Learn something new everyday.  Had me fooled.  Regardless, I guess this is just a matter of subjectivity.  Kobe could be the greatest human being in the world in private for all we know.  Oh well.  In terms of talent, they are both still among the best of the best in the league and make for great basketball.

Kobe has a huge fanbase in China (all of Asia, for a matter of fact). I also enjoy his personality very much, LeBron? Not so much.

Kobe's personality is just so lovable... (he looks more handsome too - "no homo")

It is?  I'm seriously starting to wonder if you're just trolling this whole forum.

I think more of Kobe now than I did a few tears ago, but my respect certainly has nothing to do with his personality.  I admire his talent, toughness, and competitive fire.

I respect each one differently.

Kobe because of his personality. This guy is just a competitor. He HATES losing and will do whatever he can to win (even if it means people hating on him for being selfish). He plays through injuries and is a very tough competitor. I love it whenever we play the Lakers and rooting against him

Lebron because of his skills. He is hands down the best player in the world. He makes his team better. I respected him so much more when he was with Cleveland when he led them to the finals in 06-07. It would've been special if he had won a championship there. I hated how he left Cleveland for Miami.

A better question would be who do you respect less than these two?

It would be hard to think of anyone in the NBA. Even within all basketball maybe Rick Pitino is the only one I can think of.  Not a big fan of Jordan either. Stern and his "refs".
