ESPN has done it's job.  It has indoctrinated an entire generation of basketball fans into thinking the dunk is the most glorified and fantastic play in the game.  These "fans" have no appreciation for all the subtleties in the game of basketball.  Style is king, substance means nothing.

I feel sad for these folks.

lbj did own him on that dunk. size doesn't matter....if ur on the court, ur a peer. i dont think its a big deal. everyone in the nba gets dunked on at some point. i liked the fact that terry didn't just move out the way and instead contested it.  no big deal, but in the world of social media and lbj being lbj, its getting hype.  who cares

Sorry but yes size does matter. And age in these things. He dunks on someone his own size or bigger THAT is the only way it is imopressive. Anyone his size could dunk on a smaller player.

+1....sadly this is reflective of our society in general today.

But don't feel bad for them. Ignorance is bliss.

If Chalmers (small guy) talked a bunch of trash before a lakers/celtics game and Pierce, Green, or KG threw it down in his face every celtics fan who is currently "unimpressed" by Lebron would be doing back flips and making fun of Chalmers for getting owned.

Yes, terry can get dunked on by alot of people, so what? That doesn't mean hes incapable of being owned just because hes short lol. The dude got destroyed, everybody but celtics fans seem to acknowledge this lol.

Funny, I grew up in the 80s and people were saying exactly the same things then.  It was one of the biggest critiques of Jordan's early career - people just liked him because of dunks and didn't appreciate actual good play anymore.  With the standard clucking about younger generations not valuing quality, only caring about flash, sweeping generalizations about society, etc etc.  Same as it ever was.

Interesting choice of words. But "standard" isn't a generalization?

And "clucking" is pretty patronizing and condescending, especially in it's use as it applies to an older "generation", which is another generalization.

I too lived through the '80s, and don't recall people saying those things then about flash over substance. The '6ers, Fakers, Cs and Pistons were the teams that dominated and played solid team basketball, even though they had some flash (Dr. J, Chocolate Thunder, Magic, Worthy, Zeke.)

The amazing thing to me is that there are still people that think this dunk was amazing....now THAT is LOL.

6'8" 260 vs 6'1" 180.....this one, and DeAndre's dunk over the HUGE and LOOOOOONG Brandon Knight were "Stunners".....

If DeAndre and LeBron could bring this vs Dwight, Tyson or even KG right now then we can talk.

C'mon now....are we THAT starved for highlights?

If you want TRUE highlights, then go to youtube and watch Shaq and Hakeem battle...Kareem vs Moses...not this mess you see nowadays.

I'm sorry...DeAndre and LeBron did not "OWN" anyone....wait, let me re-assess.......perhaps "nowadays" this mess can be construed as "ownage", but not to me.

Now THIS is ownage:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR7S0pQVs-w

When LeBron and DeAndre can take a Big, then, to me - that's ownage.

And I, too, thought "Clucking" was a bit too much.

Great vid!

You mentioned Shaq. I think that many who "marvel" over LeBroid "owning" Terry would also marvel  over Shaq "owning" Mugsy Bogues with a big throwdown.

We all need our heroes I guess.

Now THAT would be HILARIOUS..

I can honestly see ESPN hyping such a thing up.

Here's another TRUE ownage vid from Old School:

LeBron, DeAndre - go talk to The Good Dr.

6'7" vs 7'2".

I hate how fans are blaming DJ and LeBron for this... blame the media for overhyping! I would dunk too if I were LBJ or DJ... Dunks have high FG% so why not? They pump up everybody and are worth it. Blame the media and the fans  ::)
