Royce White leaves d-league team at advice of physician

That's exactly why I'm irritated by what this kid is doing.    Houston comes out of this looking bad, but what else can they do?  They allow him use of a personal bus to avoid flying as much as possible.  Multiples times he hasn't allowed them to place him in the D-League for some playing time and seasoning.  At the end of the day, they signed a kid to a basketball contract only to have him continually find reasons to not play basketball.  At some point (and we may have already passed this point) he becomes more trouble than he's worth.

The biggest mistake Houston has made was taking White at his word when he said he could cope with his flying anxiety during the season.  They shouldn't have drafted him in the first place.

Well, you can't blame White for getting drafted. Maybe you can. At this point, it's over..

White declared for the NBA draft and signed the contract the Rockets offered, so yeah you can blame him for this ongoing embarassment.

Exactly.  White signed the contract.  I'm sure the contract didn't include a clause in which he didn't have to play this year.

It seems like Houston told Royce that if he didn't return to the Vipers that he'd be suspended and go without pay.  That worked the first time and it seems like it's worked again.  Maybe he figured he had the new agreement with the Rockets protected him from suspension without pay if he followed his doctor's orders but it seems like he was remissed.

I can't believe he actually claimed he hadn't been paid during his long stay away from the Rockets because all the various fines had completely eaten away his paychecks.  Just total nonsense since there's a cap on fines and those caps come way, way under his salary.  The guy comes across as a fraud.

I hate how this situation has turned out for Royce. Tha brotha has talent and tha Rockets could definitely use it. I'm from Houston and it's disappointing because I had good expectations for him but I hope he gets it together. I want to see him on tha court.

Ive got to agree here. I hate how Houston gets the blame for this one. It isn't warranted. They've helped him on every issue but White keeps coming out into the media and blaming the Rockets for stuff thats out of their control...Dudes got "anxiety" issues but he has no problem going on national TV in front of MILLIONS of people doing interviews to bash the team that has given him this amazing opportunity? Smells fishy.

His Anxiety issue is with regards to flying right?  That doesnt have any correlation to speaking to a camera infront of a few other people.  Hes speaking to one person and a machine, not millions.

His Anxiety issue is with regards to flying right?  That doesnt have any correlation to speaking to a camera infront of a few other people.  Hes speaking to one person and a machine, not millions.

He has a fear of flying and just overall general anxiety issues. In his draft day video after the TV said he was going to the rockets he couldn't deal with the crowd of people cheering for him in the gym where he was waiting for the result.

That said, he definitely has no problem biting the hand that feeds him on twitter.
